Ensure longwall mechanical and electrical assets are maintained to meet business goals in a safe manner. Effectively manage mine infrastructure and equipment in a cost-effective manner to achieve optimum levels of reliability while working within budget.
Job Description
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work with each department to ensure planning is optimized and there is efficient use of all resources at the mine.
Identify and implement continuous improvement (CI) strategies targeting safety, reliability and cost saving.
Timely escalation of Longwall issues that impact safety of people or production to the Maintenance Director.
Ensure effective project management of major overhaul and repair equipment including planning, implementation and budgeting.
Life of Mine Longwall strategic planning, equipment lifecycle management and project requirements.
Ensure all major maintenance outages and projects have a clear scope of work, project schedule (Gantt chart), forecast costing, quality assurance procedures and commissioning documentation.
EXPERIENCE
• 8 - 10 years of supervisor experience
• Experience in Planning & Execution Techniques
• Experience in Success Factors, SAP and Kronos is a plus
• Knowledge of conducting safety inspections and completing risk assessments
• Equipment reliability trending analyst
• Maintenance and Asset Management qualifications. (Desirable)
• PLC programming (Desirable)
Role Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Minimum 5 years underground Longwall Mining Experience
• Current electrical card (relevant state)
• Must have high level of understanding MSHA regulations and Mechanical and Electrical Codes of Practice
• Ability to utilize Microsoft Office programs
• Alabama Mine Foreman Certification (Desirable)
Physical Requirements
• Must have the ability to stand for prolonged periods of time on uneven, rocky surfaces for up to the entire length of the shift
• Must have the ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles
• Must have the ability to walk for up to 4 hours at a time. Will be required to walk through different sections of the mine with varying
degrees of clearance and headroom
• Must have the ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as
required by Company and MSHA
• Must have the ability to bend or stoop for a full work period as a result of mine height
• Must have the ability to climb up and down stairs and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
• Must have the ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the
arms and legs as well as good hand to eye coordination
• Must have the ability to lift 25 to 50 pounds on a frequent basis and the ability to occasionally lift items weighing up to 80 pounds
• Must have the ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, water varying
levels of noise from low to high decibels, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area
• The job requires that you be able to work various shifts (required shifts include days, evenings and nights with rotating schedules,
weekends and holidays
