Reliability Engineer

The Reliability Engineer manages an effective Equipment Maintenance program (including repairs, modifications, and installation of equipment) to improve production efficiency and ensure optimum machine time availability. The position uses continuous improvement tools, leadership skills, and is responsible for fostering a team environment. The Reliability Engineer is responsible for eliminating maintenance and breakdown related losses, building capability in operating teams and equipment owners to deliver overall line performance. This position is located at our Melrose, MN manufacturing facility.

Job Responsibilities:

Drives standard practices around preventative and predictive maintenance processes.

Maintains a high level of effectiveness around CMMS and spare parts availability, ensures equipment maintenance strategies and reliability standards are in place for the Melrose, MN facility.

Drives reduction of unplanned down time, discovery work and repeat events (incidents and near misses) therefore reducing overall life cycle cost and increasing operating profit.

Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations including capacity, quality, cost, and regulatory compliance issues

Defines and implements Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for measuring progress.

Education, Experience and Skills Required:

BS/BA degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Chemical Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, developing, leading, and executing proven maintenance reliability programs, management of maintenance budgeting processes, and frontline maintenance leadership.

Prior experience in continuous processing plant preferred.

Ability to develop strategic partnerships across the company and with third party contractors to increase overall reliability.

Strong understanding of industrial, mechanical, and electrical technologies.

Proficient with CMMS and working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and PP.

Thorough mechanical, solid electrical and controls knowledge of all lines supported.

Understanding of process and follows quality guidelines (GMP’s HACCP, etc.).

The desire to make a meaningful difference. Must be self-motivated with the ability to work independently.

Strong analytical, leadership, and communication (both written and verbal) skills, Excellent PC skills including Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Strong technical problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and proven project management experience with coordination of multiple projects simultaneously.

Effectively communicates strategy, goals and results across the organization as it relates to Maintenance and within the Maintenance Organization.

Preferred Qualifications: 

Certified maintenance and reliability professional (CMRP certification).

Experience and training with project management systems.

Experience with Reliability Centered Maintenance (RCM) and facilitating Root Cause Analysis (RCA). Exposure to operations, process control, project engineering, plant maintenance, construction and new installations.
