Starbucks is seeking a highly skilled and motivated senior accountant to join our world class Financial Reporting team. The team's main responsibilities include: quarterly and annual SEC filings, assistance in earnings release process, debt offering, proxy preparation, and research on complex accounting and disclosure topics. This highly visible position is integral to Starbucks success by ensuring the accurate and timely financial reporting that supports compliance to SEC regulations, management decisions, and external messaging to investors and other stakeholders. As a senior, Financial Reporting, you will…
• Be a key contributor and preparer of Starbucks filings to the Securities Exchange Commission, including 10-Q/K’s, S-3, debt offering prospectus, and annual proxy statement
• Prepare and analyze consolidated and business segment results and the statement of cash flows
• Perform accounting and reporting research, inclusive of GAAP and SEC guidance and interpretation, industry peer benchmarking; provide recommendations to business partners and senior leadership
• Assist Investor Relations with preparation and review of quarterly earnings releases and related materials. Assist Legal with preparation and review of our annual proxy statement, related supplmenetal filings as needed, and other reporting needs on an ad-hoc basis.
• Recommend and implement improvements to existing systems, work processes and procedures affecting month and quarter end financial close.
We’d love to hear from people with:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related business field.
• A minimum of 3+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience in public accounting, audit, finance, accounting or closely related field.
• SEC financial reporting experience.
• Advanced problem solving and analytical skills, including ability to effectively collaborate with cross functional teams as well as demonstrated ability to understand broad business and financial issues.
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
