What You Will Do as a Merchandiser:
Work directly with the Director of Merchandising and the merchandising team in planning, organizing and developing product line from strategic planning through retail placement to optimize profit and meet marketing, financial and corporate growth objectives.
How You Will Make a Difference:
* Contribute to development and implementation of strategic plan for product lines.
* Monitor category competitive market, consumer trends and products in the marketplace.
* Maintain a strong understanding of and insight into the category apparel market.
* Present seasonal line to internal and external stakeholders.
* Work cross functionally within Dickies to ensure all calendar and development targets are met to optimize growth and profitability of product lines.
* Coordinate with sales as needed to tailor programs and act as a resource for trade development.
* Identify and implement cost reduction and product improvement programs.
* Assist merchandising and design in full product creation process, from brief through production.
* Manage assortment plans and provide regular reporting on SKU management, style profitability and costs.
* Ensure issue resolution in production, delivery or quality assurance issues within merchandising department.
* Maintain merchandising systems to support style development, product packaging, and product pricing.
* Contribute to positioning and promotional strategies for product lines.
* Assist in creating competitive analysis for strategy formulation.
* Responsible for maintaining seasonal product (sample) lines for current (in market) and future (in development)
* Responsible for ensuring all samples are organized and easily accessible
* Manage samples requirements/availability for photo shoots; fashion shows, tradeshows, sales meetings, showrooms, market weeks
* Respond to requests from Sales and other departments regarding Field sales sample requests; items for Creative; various sample requests
* Go to Market meetings, preparation of documents and room(s) set up/tear down.
* This role may require hours that exceed 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week, especially when working at peak periods and/or on rush/special projects.
Skills for Success
* Bachelors degree in merchandising, marketing, business administration or related field
* Minimum 2-4 years experience in merchandising discipline. Understanding of multi-channel retail and multi-product categories preferred.
* Excellence in all MS Office suite programs; PowerPoint, Word, and Excel
* Strong presentation skills and high comfort level of giving presentations in front of groups
* Ability to communicate professionally via phone and e-mail
* Strategic planning skills
* Proficiency at multitask assignments.
* Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
* Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
* Ability to analyze sales numbers, profit margins, costing and pricing and develop insights/recommendations based on the analysis.
