Drawing from a rich tradition in treating psychiatric illness for more than 80 years, Hill Crest remains on the cutting edge of new developments and offers a full continuum of care for both inpatient and outpatient: acute child, adolescent, and adult. Hill Crest Behavioral Health Services also offers residential treatment for adolescents (ages 12 - 17) from Alabama and other states in need of long-term treatment, due to severe behavioral, emotional and/or family problems.

Hill Crest Behavioral Health is currently seeking an energetic and dynamic professional to join our team as a Clinical Nurse Practioner. The Clinical Nurse Practitioner will perform complete physical examinations on patients admitted to the hospital. She/he will conduct medical consults as requested by attending physicians.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

* Provides health services in the form of physical examination and health education.
* Interviews patients using a prescribed format to determine the nature, character, and severity of health problems: obtains patient's medical and related histories.
* Develops a specific plan of care for the treatment of illnesses: instruct patients in the proper use of medication, diet changes and other factors to assure the success for a treatment plan.
* Evaluates the results of diagnostic tests and examinations: refers patients with abnormal conditions to the physician.
* Counsels and advises patients.
* Maintains healthy emotional environment and gives immunizations.
* Refers patients to other health and social service agencies as needed with physician recommendation.
* Completes discharge summary for physician signature following patient discharge.
* Always exhibits a positive attitude when dealing with others in day to day work situations.
* Demonstrates knowledge of the theory and skills to reduce Seclusions/Restraints and other restrictive measures as well as physical, mental and emotional risk factors.

Qualifications

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Master's degree in Nursing and completion of a specialized course in the theory and practice in the clinical areas of assignment.
* Current registration as a nurse in Alabama or in a state with which Alabama has a reciprocity agreement.
* Certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of professional nursing in the clinical areas of assignments.
* Knowledge of the principles and practices of public health nursing.
* Ability to make judgements based on principles, practices and techniques of clinical specialty.
* Ability to guide and counsel patients and families.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective nursing relationships with other health personnel and the public.
