The Outpatient (PHP/IOP) Nurse is an integral member of the multidisciplinary team who has developed expertise in an expanded RN role within multiple settings, to include Partial Hospitalization. The Nurse is responsible for the inventory and ordering of supplies in the PHP department, as well as the required audits in PHP as assigned. The Nurse is also responsible for assisting in utilization review functions, admitting patients, discharging patients, and providing coordination for the physicians.

Qualifications

Licenses or Certifications: Current nursing licensure. Current CPR and CPI certifications, or must obtain within two (2) weeks of date of hire.

Total education, vocational training and experience: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Minimum two (2) years psychiatric experience. Completion of the required float nurse orientation/competencies and PHP Competency Checklist.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

* Must have effective verbal and written communication skills to communicate in a clear, concise manner with patients, families, physicians, referral sources, hospital staff, and the public, as well as provide accurate and timely documentation and record-keeping.

* Knowledge of the physical, emotional, and cultural characteristics of patients who have psychiatric, and chemical dependency, and behavioral problems.

* Ability to continually identify and assess the emotional needs of the patient, and to measure the patient's progress.

* Knowledge of community resources.

* Must be able to interact with patients, physicians, and hospital personnel in a professional manner.

* Good organizational and time management skills are required to cope in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions, complex schedules, and fluctuations in census.

* Physical demands include daily sitting, standing, walking, and movement, as well as meeting patients and families.
