Clinical Director, MGH Social Service Department
Reports to the Director of Social Service Department. Responsible for patient care, supervision/consultation, assignments and management of program for designated social work teams. Creates an environment that empowers staff to provide high quality patient care. As a member of the Department's Leadership Team, participates in evaluation and planning for the Department's overall clinical practice, policies and procedures, quality assurance and strategic direction inside the hospital and in the community. Joins with other members of the Department Leadership to provide the organizational direction necessary to effect change and promote excellence in a fiscally responsible manner. Represents assigned Teams and the Department on Hospital and Departmental committees and task forces. Collaborates with staff and leadership in multiple departments within the Hospital as assigned. Provides leadership to assigned teams. Promotes positive team relationships by encouraging open dialogue and facilitating team approaches to service delivery.
Creates an environment that encourages individuals/teams to excel in clinical practice, teaching and research.
Screens applicants for employment; leads team interviews, recommends candidates for hire to the Director.
Assesses and plans staff assignments based on service needs, staff availability and fiscal resources.
Provides supervision/consultation and conducts employee performance evaluations.
Responsible for the quality and quantity of clinical services for assigned teams. Evaluates assignments, monitors productivity and time management.
May initiate studies of assigned teams' activities including productivity, staffing and efficient use of resources.
Functions as a member of the Department's Leadership Team to develop and implement clinical standards, policies/procedures, quality assurance activities and to set strategic vision for the Department.
Participates in planning and implementing Departmental Staff Meetings and other meetings/committees/project work as assigned.
Keeps informed of evolving clinical theory, practice and issues affecting social work in health care and proactively recommends changes.
Participates in providing administrative on-call support for day, evening, night and weekend shifts.
Identifies and participates in opportunities for program development and/or quality improvement/assurance projects.
Participates in diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives with staff, Leadership Team members and Hospital.
Executes special assignments/responsibilities from the Director.
Collaboration:

Provides leadership and/or consultation to teams/committees/task forces.
Collaborates with physicians, health professions personnel, administrators in creating, implementing and evaluating practice and programs.
Leads and participates in Departmental, Hospital and Community committees.

MSW/LICSW with a minimum of 7-10 years' post-master's experience with increasing clinical, supervisory and administrative responsibility.
Demonstrates competence in assessment, treatment, supervision and ability to operationalize clinical practice.

Shares in budget development with Director and Director of Business Operations as assigned.
