We are an innovative team of engineers and designers that supports projects throughout the company. Our staff leads and collaborates with Kiewits module fabrication and construction teams to approach construction-driven engineering with a focus on safe, cost effective, and innovative designs that achieve client expectations and further Kiewits legacy of excellence. We are seeking a Traction Power and Electrical Power Designer to support the rapid growth of the rails transit systems section and projects around the country. The person will work under the direction of an Engineering Manager and/or a Senior Traction Power Engineer to develop drawings for electrical power system, traction power system. Communication system, ATC system, and any other systems.

Location
This position is based out of our McLean, VA office.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Provide technical support for MicroStation, AutoCAD, and other discipline related software.
* Assist with the development of CAD standards.
* Assist with the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
* Identify and execute productivity improvements within the CAD environment.
* Responsible for quality check of drafted product and conformance with drawing production standards and project specific CAD requirements.
* Utilize MicroStation, AutoCAD, or other similar software tools to:
* Working knowledge of electrical design and the interface between structural components and mechanical equipment and civil utilities.
* Capable of layout and routing of conduit, and duct banks with minimal input from engineering.
* Ability to generate duct bank sections with minimal guidance from engineering.
* Assist in the preparation of estimates and material lists with project engineer
* Perform field verification of existing facilities.
* Ability to perform basic material shop drawing reviews.
* Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Qualifications
* Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology with +10 years Electrical Design experience as a minimum.
* Advanced with 2D required
* 3D AutoCAD and Microstation skills is a plus.
* PromiseE, Autocad Electric and/or Revit preferable.
* BRCM Bentley Raceway and Cable Manager is a PLUS.
* Familiar with Civil and Structural Design.
* Transportation / Rail and Transit project experience is a PLUS.
* Self directs work with limited supervision.
* Provides guidance, leadership and training to less experienced designers.
* Adjusts to varying demands of work and performs well.
* Communicates effectively with supervisor and members of immediate department.
* Works collaboratively across departments and involves others in solving problems.
* Supports project teams and departments in a positive and productive manner. Works well with other to accomplish common goals and objectives.
* Serves as technical resource to engineers, designers and construction.
