What you will do
Under general direction, manages a Branch Systems operation team consisting of Systems Technicians. Assists with assigning projects to Lead Systems Specialists and allocates appropriate resources (i.e. Systems Technicians) to those projects. Provides site coordination support (job chargeable) on projects with high contract complexity to the Lead Systems Specialist as needed. You are responsible for profitable execution of assigned projects, including project delivery, estimating, and financial management. Performs or delegates tasks as required to execute and fully complete assigned projects including: hardware design, system programming, installation coordination, system and network commissioning and project closeout. Following standardized project management procedures, you will determine optimum resource levels needed to meet schedule milestones and monitor workforce levels. You will have your hand on the project pulse at all times, ensuring that all scope changes are quickly and properly documented and that change orders are approved prior to performance of work. Ensures work performed is in compliance with state, local and Federal legal requirements and operates on the job with the highest of ethics. Adheres and ensures Johnson Controls staff and subcontractors adhere to all safety standards.
How you will do it
* Hires, retains, performance manages, and plans for career development of direct reports. Prepares and delivers clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports.
* Trains and mentors System Technicians. Acts as a facilitator for Systems Operations Technical Training (SO TechT). Ensures that delegated tasks are done accurately, on-time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract. Adheres to safety standards. High degree of regard to employee and subcontractor safety.
* Coordinates and allocates resources between the assigned Lead Systems Specialists to ensure timely and cost effective installation and completion of projects.
* Recruits Systems Technicians with appropriate skills and competencies to meet the needs of the Branch.
* Reviews and interprets contract terms and conditions and assists Lead Systems Specialists with site coordination tasks with projects of higher complexity including such tasks as representing Johnson Controls at site coordination meetings, coordinating subcontractors, project administration and conflict resolution (i.e. job chargeable activities). Assists the LSS in evaluating the contractual scope of work and the impact of client issued bulletins, field directives and/or scheduling changes.
* Assists the Systems Operations Team in identifying opportunities and actively pursuing additional work through change orders.
* Assists the Lead Systems Specialist in developing Schedule of Values on projects of higher complexity that requires detailed billing.
* Pre-bid and pre-book project review with sales staff.
* Act as the primary on-site leader for assigned projects.
* Perform cost estimating, project scheduling and project management activities; maintain positive cash flow.
* Ensure projects are properly executed, as budgeted, and billed in a timely manner within scope of the contract.
* Manage the selection, ordering, and delivery schedule of materials to be procured for the projects assigned.
* Proactively work to establish advantageous long-term customer and contractor relationships.
* Interface with customer throughout the project life cycle to gain feedback on customer satisfaction.

* Communicate project status to management, providing forecasts of revenue, costs, and gross margin for the PC execution.
* Actively pursue additional business through change orders; perform associated cost estimates, prepare proposals and negotiate final settlement price and customer acceptance.
* Negotiate, prepare and issue subcontracts; foster and maintain good working relationships with subcontractors.
* Coordinates customer-training requirements; provides proper documentation and manuals as needed.
* Adhere to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards, demonstrating a high degree of safety awareness for all Johnson Controls employees and worksite-based subcontractors.

Required:
* Minimum of 5 years of HVAC industry experience required.
* Comprehensive knowledge of the principles of HVAC controls with specific knowledge of Commercial Product lines required.
Preferred:
* Bachelors degree in a technical field or equivalent experience
* Experience with basic project accounting or costing principles
* Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills; must be able to communicate technical material to non-technical audience.
* Possesses excellent computer skills
