Job Description

Facebook seeks a talented Director & Associate General Counsel to join the privacy legal team supporting Facebook's Ads, Global Marketing Solutions, Commerce, Integrity, and Facebook Financial.
This role will manage a team of privacy attorneys who advise on privacy across a diverse range of product initiatives. The team is responsible for maintaining privacy subject matter expertise in a number of areas, including youth privacy, financial privacy and laws applying to online advertising. Success in this role requires the ability to form strong partnerships, work with large multi-stakeholder teams and provide clear advice applied to a complex set of products subject to ever-changing regulatory obligations. We are looking for someone who has sharp analytical and communication skills, is diligent, proactive, collaborative, and has demonstrated excellent legal and business judgment.

Director and Associate General Counsel, Privacy Responsibilities

* Provide strategic guidance on Facebooks business model and the impact of privacy laws and regulatory obligations on Facebook and Facebook Financials products and services, including Facebooks advertising, commerce, and payments products, including Novi.

* Manage a team of lawyers, including managers, supporting multiple product teams. Provide strategic guidance to support the team and identify future needs for the team.

* Serve as a legal expert on the impact of existing privacy/data protection laws as well as legislative, regulatory, legal and industry developments. Coordinate with regional and subject matter experts within the legal privacy team and represent the global privacy view.

* Work within the legal team to develop regulatory strategy with privacy regulators in connection with new product features and initiatives supported by the team.

* Coordinate with legal stakeholders including regional privacy counsel, product counsel, regulatory and litigation counsel, compliance counsel and others on multi-disciplinary issues.

* Counsel and partner with policy, privacy, comms and other cross-functional stakeholders on cross-functional initiatives, including privacy escalations, leadership briefings, and regulatory response efforts, including implementation of new laws and regulator settlement obligations.

Minimum Qualifications

* J.D. (or foreign equivalent) with membership in at least one U.S. state bar

* 12+ years of legal experience, including people management

* Experience advising clients on legal issues related to privacy and data use, including the collection, use, storage and disclosure of personal information

* Experience with emerging technologies and online advertising

Preferred Qualifications

* Knowledge and application of international privacy and data use regulations

* Experience advising on digital commerce and payments products
