POSITION SUMMARY:

The successful applicant will work at the Department of Protein Reagent Development and Production to develop and produce protein reagents, with focus on engineering and manufacturing recombinant proteins including recombinant enzymes. He/She will contribute to multiple phases of bioprocess development and production of enzymes and proteins. The position level depends on the experience and responsibilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Develop robust and effective processes for protein purification and production.
* Collaborate with the upstream process development to clarify and process batch production lots of protein expression cultures.
* Produce recombinant enzymes and protein reagents under GMP environment.
* Characterize recombinant protein biochemically and functionally.
* Actively collaborate with other functions such as Bioanalytical, QA and QC.
* Evaluate and implement new technologies for protein downstream process development and manufacturing.
* Maintain data records, generate SOP, development, technical reports and production batch record.
* Be motivated to perform in a cooperative cross functional setting to maximize the efficiency of the protein reagent program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education and Experience (in years):

* BS or MS in Biochemistry or related field
* 5+ years (for BS) and 3+ years (for MS) of relevant industry experience in biologics development and/or manufacturing facility environment are minimal

Knowledge and skills:

* Demonstrated success in recombinant protein purification in E. coli and mammalian expression systems.
* Knowledge of protein production in E. coli and mammalian expression systems a plus.
* Excellent track record for protein purification process development, protein analysis and characterization,
* Experience in protein purification development and production under GLPs necessary and knowledge and experience with cGMP setting desirable.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are necessary.
* Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with cross functional teams to achieve objectives.
* Excellent communication, inter-personal and organizational skills are required.

Physical requirements/abilities:

* Must be able to lift 40 lbs.
