Position profile:
The ecommerce Department has an opening for an eCommerce Inventory Manager/ Merchant. This position will be located at the Albertsons E-Commerce offices in Pleasanton, CA.
The eCommerce Inventory Manager / Merchant will have two primary responsibility. First will be to manage day-to-day assortment decisions for eCommerce as necessary. Second will be to conduct inventory forecasting and planning for eCommerce merchandising as necessary.
Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
* Manage day-to-day assortment decisions to add in new products, remove discontinued products, and provide order forecast for Micro Fulfillment Centers (MFCs).
* Analyze sales data including rest of market data to determine optimal assortment for MFC. Conduct SKU rationalization to determine most productive assortment with available SKU space to ensure maximum sales and customer satisfaction.
* Act as liaison between procurement and MFC Operator to ensure that new items are slotted in the distribution center
* Perform business analysis and monitoring to efficiently merchandise product, ensure optimal assortment/slotting, and maintain positive partnerships with CPG and DSD vendors to drive overarching strategy
* Planning inventory flow, analyzing statistical data, and generating forecasting solutions
* Predict future inventory needs, producing plans for buying based on forecasts and sales data.
* Develop and measure inventory levels and service performance through KPIs.
* Plan sales and forecast appropriate inventory levels by SKU.
* Identify potential inventory liabilities and take appropriate actions to bring quantity to a desired level.
* Analyze factors that impact demand for products (i.e., category trends / trade promotions / competitive products / seasonality / retail consumption).
* Develop and provide appropriate business analysis to influence future purchases and assortment strategies.
* Construct new/pre-season item plans and suggest flow forecasts and investment quantities.
* Generate recommended order quantities based on forecast and promotional plans.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain or other relevant fields.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a demand planning/forecasting role.
* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a merchandising and assortment management role.
* Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures
* Experience working with vendors and understanding data to make assortment decisions.
* Extensive experience with full Microsoft Office suite including ability to build vlookups and run macros.
* Experience using other key software platforms including Power BI, Safeway Single Item Maintenance System (SSIMS), SmartSheet, Symphony Gold
* This job requires to work on weekends and/or holidays on a rotating basis.

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho. Joe knew the keys of running a really great store, and it was all about working hard for the customers: give them the products they want, at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care. Joe was innovative, too. He had one of the first in-store magazine racks in the country along with a scratch bakery and fresh ice cream made in-store. He worked hard, seven days a week, on his vision to build his company, and through his inspiring work ethic and tireless
determination to run the best store, the first store thrived. Just two years later, he had opened two other stores in neighboring communities and grew the fledgling company’s sales to over $1 million by the end of 1941.
