General Function:
This role supports the strategic sourcing projects as well as the tactical purchasing efforts at Belvac. It encompasses the daily review of MRP requirements and purchase order placement to ensure product is available to meet production / shipping schedules. Provides information and support to Manufacturing, Production Control/Planning, Sales and Engineering as required by the needs of the business.
Primary Responsibilities:
* Conducts MRP analysis aimed at volume consolidation and master data corrections.
* Assists with data mining efforts for the definition and set-up of economic order quantities.
* Understands and uses Inventory, Manufacturing, Engineering and Financial systems.
* Purchase order creation and distribution.
* Expedites orders to meet changing needs in delivery requirements.
* On-time delivery of purchase orders placed for assigned commodities.
* Reviews incoming international order and import documentation for accuracy and obtains corrections if necessary.
* Responsible for the execution on the disposition (return/disposal) of Non-Conforming (NCRs) materials under buyer code.
* Directly accountable for timely distribution and research necessary, with follow through for all Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) received and Add/Delete reactions. Expected to provide cost and inventory impact of Add/Deletes, as well as recommendations for disposal, and back-up for proper scrap disbursements.
* Assists in the identification, selection, qualification and onboarding of new suppliers.
* Supports new opportunities to re-source items or components aiming to reduce costs (direct / in-direct) while maintaining a sustainable supply chain.
* Defines programs, monitor performance, and report results of activities to Management.
* Aids in achieving cost savings targets while meeting inventory turn requirements.
* Acts as business liaison between Suppliers and Belvac.
* Assures Supplier visits and all associated contacts within the company, as related to the Purchasing function, are within the scope of professional business, and within the Belvac Ethics Policy, as defined.
Education:
* Bachelors Degree in a business or technical field; and a minimum of 3 years of purchasing and/or sourcing experience in a Manufacturing environment OR
* Associate degree in a business or technical field; and a minimum of 5 years of purchasing and/or sourcing experience in a Manufacturing environment OR
* Relevant direct manufacturing work experience (10+ years) within a machine shop / metal fabrication operation will be considered in lieu of educational requirements above
* APICS or SCM Certification is a plus
Experience:
* Technical ability to read drawings, understanding machining or fabrication processes and/or castings experience required
* Prior metals commodity experience or international purchasing/sourcing experience will be considered a plus preferred
* ERP system experience preferred
* Proficient in Microsoft Excel required
