Job Summary:

* Prioritizes activities across multiple projects in the assigned TA and effectively negotiates plans with colleagues and customers.

* Communicates the role of pharmacoepidemiology within GPV&E and throughout BMS.

* Applies theoretical principles to real problems and bridge uncertainty of the real world with innovative pharmacoepidemiologic solutions.

* Evaluates risk-benefit of pharmaceuticals in context of worldwide regulatory agency use of epidemiologic data.

* Advises on pharmacoepidemiology principles to others in R&D.

* Ensures that all tasks are performed in the most efficient manner possible commensurate with quality, accuracy, and timeliness; and in accordance with current global regulatory requirements, good pharmacoepidemiology guidelines, and BMS cost effectiveness goals.

* Support database build and other data management programming activities.

* Writing production code for scraping websites and PDFs to feed into NLP models.

* Develop and implement NLP-based information extraction solutions.

* Create risk prediction models for adverse events using varying methodologic techniques.

Qualifications:

* Masters degree required (Epidemiology, MPH, Computer Science, Mathematics is preferred). Advanced degree (PhD, MD, DO) is highly desired.

* At least 3-5 years of relevant experience in the pharmaceutical industry required. Management experience is preferred.

* Up-to-date knowledge of machine learning, natural language processing (NLP), and data analytics tools and techniques. Demonstrated experience with data mining including web scraping, APIs, big data workflows/tools, and/or text mining. Programming experience with SQL for querying relational databases, data cleaning, and analysis.

* Prior experience with clinical data. Knowledge about SDTM data standards is preferred. Strong knowledge of Python, and related machine learning tools (e.g. TensorFlow, PyTorch). Hands on experience with DASH/HTML is preferred.
