Manager, U.S. Tax Reporting & Compliance

Job Summary:

Currently we are seeking a Manager, U.S. Tax Compliance and Reporting. This person will assist the Director, U.S. Tax Compliance and Reporting with the compliance, audit defense and financial reporting for U.S. direct and indirect taxes. This role will require a broad knowledge and experience base, with particular focus on US income tax compliance and tax reporting for multi-national corporations. The Manager, U.S. Tax Compliance and Reporting will be based in Troy, Michigan.

Your Role:

* Compliance - U.S., state, local, property and sales/use tax compliance; including planning, coordinating, gathering and preparing necessary supporting schedules and data, and reviewing work product prepared by external co-sourcing service provider working on this compliance.

* Reporting - U.S. and state income tax provision process, including the calculation of the quarterly and annual income tax provision and analysis and evaluation of tax positions under ASC 740, FAS 5, and other relevant regulatory and governmental provisions.

* Audit Defense - U.S., state, local, property and sales/use tax audits, including responding to information document requests, coordinating with internal personnel and outside advisors, making preliminary risk and exposure estimates, and formulating exam strategy to manage process.

* Support global tax planning initiatives (development and implementation) and compliance requirements, including preparing E&P and foreign tax credit calculations.

* Preparation of technical memos regarding tax accounting issues, if required.

* Ensuring U.S. SOX tax compliance documentation of U.S. tax processes and control

* Special projects, as assigned.

Your Background:

* Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration

* 5+ years tax experience within the tax function of a multinational publicly-traded corporation and/or Big 4 public accounting firm, with experience in U.S. federal and state tax

* Working knowledge of accounting for income taxes under U.S. GAAP

* CPA

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and oral) with the ability to interact well with people of various backgrounds and levels.

* Strong time management skills with the ability to meet strict deadlines for tax compliance and U.S. GAAP reporting needs.

* Strong organizational skill to ensure ability to prioritize workload and manage a number of projects at any one time.

* A positive, energetic and happy attitude.

Additional Preferred Background:

* Masters degree or other advanced degree in tax or accounting

* Knowledge of accounting and consolidations systems (e.g., SAP, HFM) and tax reporting software (e.g. OneSource).

* Experience in Property Tax, Sales & Use Tax

* Working knowledge of international tax principles.
