The Opportunity

Ally's Business Line Risk Analytics team is currently seeking a highly motivated professional to join our team. This position's primary responsibilities will include supporting Commercial Auto Portfolio Management analytics reporting, report platform migration, and data visualizations building. The ideal candidate must have several years of on the job technical experience (SQL, SAS and/or Python), the ability to work in a collaborative environment, must be results driven, must be an analytical and strategical problem solver, and must constantly look for continuous improvements and efficiencies.

The Work Itself

* Responsible for completing the work vital to define project or analysis scope, identify required and available data, query relational database, process extracted data, and develop a final recommendation or product
* Interact with senior management, department leaders and other employees to develop and reach agreement on reporting requirements and priorities
* Lead projects to build and validate automated processes and the continuous improvement of automation logic
* Maintain code logic to pull, sanitize, aggregate, conform, migrate, and produce operational and portfolio-level reports accurately
* Regular creation of data visuals and presentations using Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools such as Power BI
* Support production BI solutions by supervising and tuning SQL queries and data loads
* Experience in crafting and implementing custom reporting and visualizations using BI tools (Tableau, Power BI, Cognos)
* Apply sound control processes into daily/weekly/monthly processes to efficiently identify, assess, and handle risk
* For repeated processes, the Sr. Analyst is encouraged to become the subject matter authority able to parse relevant code and resolve complications as they arise
* Analyze monthly operating results and monthly variances; identify problems and research potential recommendations for corrective actions
* Perform portfolio analytics, special projects, drill down analysis and other duties as needed
* Collaborate with various stakeholders within the auto lendings organization to provide timely and accurate analysis

The Skills You Bring

* Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field or related field. Masters degree preferred
* 4+ years of professional experience in analytics/reporting, preferably in financial services
* Sophisticated proven understanding of SQL (SAS, R, and/or Python a plus)
* Expertise in Excel (familiarity with VBA and Power BI a plus)
* Project Management experience preferred
* Ability to create and communicate analyses using PowerPoint
* Ability to reference developer documentation to tackle coding challenges
* Self-starter with proven track record identifying and completing self-directed learning
* Detail-oriented with the ability to take projects from concept to meaningful recommendation
