In February 2021, VMware and Lumen Technologies announced a significant expansion of their partnership to fast-track the design, development, and delivery of edge computing and more secure, work-from-anywhere solutions. Lumen and VMwares combined capabilities will enable customers to deliver future-forward experiences for any application, to any device, from the global cloud core to the distributed network edge.

To lay the foundation for this collaboration, Lumen and VMware formed a Joint Innovation Lab (JIL), bringing together architecture and design, marketing, and sales resources. The combined teams will focus initial efforts on co-developing solutions for the Lumen portfolio of managed services in key areas including: Edge Computing, Security, and Work-from-anywhere solutions leveraging VMwares Secure Access Service Edge Platform.

VMware is looking for a strong technical product marketing manager to drive both product and engineering teams across VMware and Lumen to help accelerate the customers ability to build, run, manage, connect, and protect applications across distributed infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

You will help Lumen and VMware identify joint product solutions to drive innovation and differentiation across a number of key verticals. The ideal candidate should have a solid understanding of VMwares core offerings in order to uncover new opportunities for joint product differentiation across existing roadmaps.

You should be ready to question the status quo and think outside the box to help build new innovative & differentiated offerings for the JIL to jointly take to market.

Key responsibilities:

* You need to be able to engage, influence and collaborate with sales, development and product teams across VMware and Lumen
* Have a track record of engaging with cross company product groups to identify Candidate Projects, select projects based on agreed upon criteria, and drive execution towards delivery
* Have the ability to drive the JIL teams efforts around joint product strategy with an initial focus on co-developing solutions for the Lumen portfolio of managed services in key areas including:
* Define and deliver a joint Work-from-anywhere solution, adding VMwares Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) platform, which is inclusive of VMware SD-WAN and VMware Workspace ONE, to the Lumen solutions set.
* Define and deliver a joint Edge Computing solution, certifying the integration of the VMware Tanzu Basic edition with the Lumen Edge Bare Metal service and Lumen Dynamic Connections.
* Define and deliver a joint Security solution, integrating VMware Carbon Black Cloud Endpoint and VMware Carbon Black Cloud Workload with intelligence data from Black Lotus Labs, the threat research arm of Lumen.
* Drive key technical marketing activities and Lumen-specific content (use case development, solution presentations, demos, blogposts, sales enablement, and conference speakerships) for JIL Candidate Projects
* Ensure projects remain on track from legal agreements through project planning and successful go-to-market activities

Required Skills

* You possess deep technical subject matter expertise in SASE, SD-WAN, EUC, IaaS, and/or PaaS technologies
* Experience with VMware technologies
* You have recent experience in product management, technical marketing, and/or managing services
* Critical thinking and analytical skills
* Strong consulting soft skills and tactful conflict management skills
* Excellent interpersonal skills with effective written and oral communication are required
* Able to balance multiple tasks and projects effectively and quickly adapt to new situations

Preferred Skills

* Experience in technical product marketing and working with both internal or (preferably) external partners
* Experience with Cloud Service Provider or Managed Service Provider business models
* You are effective in working both independently and in a team setting
* Ability to explore emerging technologies and their impact on our business (or portfolio)
* Ability to work well with other development teams, some of them out of country
* A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, related field or equivalent experience
