Job Description
As the Senior Director of the Rebate P&L;, you will be the business owner responsible for gathering and synthesizing all revenue and costs related to the $30B+ in rebate billings annually for the PBM, presenting to senior executive audience and driving financial management and improvement of the Rebate P&L.; This role requires deep understanding of financial levers of our business. A successful candidate for this role must have a demonstrated ability to understand the PBM business models across all market segments. Additional responsibilities include financial scenario modeling for multi-year strategic planning, budgeting and forecasting purposes showing conservative, moderate and aggressive outlooks of the future. This role will allow us to be successful in improving our performance and profitability for our clients and the PBM business. In order to effectively deliver on the objectives of this role, it will require the individual in this position to engage stakeholders across the PBM, Aetna and Shared Services leadership teams to include, but not limited to: Trade, Finance, Underwriting, Product, PBM Sales Teams.
Primary responsibilities include:
- Establish and refine the end-to-end view of Rebate P&L; management in the PBM which manages over $200B in brand drug pharmaceutical spend and $30B+ in rebate billings each year across the commercial and government channels
- Understand the levers of Rebate P&L; management and drive strategy to optimize them across formulary strategy, client needs, trade strategy, and PBM strategy, including, but not limited to:
Target growth opportunities in key segments like medical rebates and rebate utility clients and drive the plan toward realization of targets
Lead rebate guarantee mitigation efforts and refine rebate forecasting capabilities to manage P&L; exposure
Maintain expert knowledge of the health insurance industry, PBM industry, current/emerging medical and pharmacy trend management strategies, current/emerging CVS Caremark enterprise offerings, drivers of CVS Caremark enterprise revenue/profitability, and drivers of health plan client revenue/profitability.
- Work across the CVS matrix ensuring effective rebate strategies are developed, operationalized and executed to remain competitive in the market and that drive profitable growth, including, but not limited to:
Partner with Finance team to inform establishing budget targets and achievement objectives to drive P&L; profitability
Collaborate with sales and underwriting on rebate strategy for new and renewing clients that ensures client wins and protects profitability
Required Qualifications
10-15 years of relevant work experience
10+ years shown experience with P&L; management and analytical skills within the Managed Care or PBM healthcare industry
Exceptional communication skills across the full spectrum of formal and informal channels and to multiple audiences, including external clients, consultants, internal partners, and executive leadership.
Strong command of financial knowledge, terminology, and documents
Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to educate and influence external customers and internal partners
Proven track record of implementing solutions developed primarily from input from end users, which successfully satisfy the business need.
Demonstrated experience in managing complex work processes in a cross-department, team environment.
Demonstrated success and experience in motivating individuals in a complete, fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Demonstrated experience in making informed recommendations and decisions in a dynamic and changing environment
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams
Clinical Background preferred
Education
Bachelor degree required.
