Position Summary:

Unity Lab Services, a part of Thermo Fisher Scientific, provides integrated solutions, instrument, and enterprise services to our customers. This Field Service role is responsible for managing all aspects of field service support and customer relationship management. The successful candidate will provide complete services delivery to our customer. Our ideal candidate will be customer oriented, an advocate for Thermo Fisher Scientific in customer laboratories, and be eager to drive growth.

Key Responsibilities:

* Under general supervision, ensures laboratory equipment and instrumentation are fit-for-use by maintaining asset and work order records and verifying external service contracts are up to date
* Coordinating operational windows for the execution of maintenance and/or calibration routines.
* Generates unscheduled work orders and coordinates vendor, mechanic, electrician and/or instrumentation support for installation, maintenance, calibration, and/or troubleshooting.
* Conducts general troubleshooting of equipment issues and equipment verification.
* Under close supervision, completes impact assessments for Out-of-Process-Tolerance instrumentation events.
* Demonstrates knowledge of basic engineering principles, lab equipment calibration, methods and practices (e.g. process flow diagrams, piping & instrumentation diagrams, process controls, cost estimation)
* Assists with customer training, by preparing instruments and supplies as well as giving presentations
* Perform work within a validated system, following GMP guidelines and Good Documentation Practices, while maintaining state of audit readiness
* Create, update and review work instructions /SOPs as needed

Minimum Requirements/Qualifications:

* Associates or bachelor2019s degree; Mechanical Engineering, Instrumentation Certificate or equivalent, knowledge of the biotechnology industry is preferred
* 1-3 years of relevant experience
* Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people in English and Spanish
* Must have strong interpersonal skills
* Certified on assigned products
* Demonstrated experience managing service territory, scheduling, and inventory in a GxP lab environment

Non-Negotiable Hiring Criteria:

* Proven ability to diagnose and resolve problems on sophisticated electronic, mechanical and optical instrumentation in a commercial scientific laboratory environment
* Ability to read, interpret and analyze component layout drawings, assembly drawings, wiring and labeling diagrams
* Effective communication skills
* Basic instructional abilities (customer training)
* Accomplish individual and team objectives
* Independently resolve routine customer satisfaction problems
* Customer/business-oriented (satisfaction)
* Detailed understanding of service functions

Working Conditions:

* Required to work independently within a customer location
* Extensive walking/standing may be required for 75-85% of the day
* May pass through areas where chemical based products may be in use
* Must possess motor skills appropriate to the task
* Must be able to lift, push and pull 30-40 pounds consistently; may be required to lift 50 lbs.
* May be able to use material handling equipment such as push carts and pallet jacks
* Depending on area of building, personal protective equipment may be worn to include lab coats, coveralls, hood, facemask, hairnets and/or safety gloves
* Some areas require steel toe shoes, bump hats and/or safety glasses
* Must be able to work hours required to get the job done (Flex Shift)
