Position Summary: This position is within the Fisher BioServices business unit of Thermo Fisher Scientific. The Assistant Project Director assists in the management of the CBRO government contracts and other contracts within CBRO.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

00B7 Supervises the work of Operations Supervisor, Team Lead, Inventory Analyst, and Operations Technicians.

00B7 Assures that biospecimens and reagents are properly received, inventoried, stored, and distributed.

00B7 Oversees laboratory processing.

00B7 Maintains client databases and monitors their quality.

00B7 Assists in developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and facility manuals.

00B7 Assists in health and safety training.

00B7 Interfaces with clients about operations.

00B7 Assists with report production and facility upkeep and operations.

00B7 Applies good manufacturing principles in all areas of responsibility.

00B7 Supervises technicians to complete a project, including receiving, laboratory processing, storing, data entry, retrieving and shipping of samples.

00B7 Checks (Quality Control) samples and applicable documentation to ensure accuracy and integrity of the inventory and shipments.

00B7 Communicates with clients and PD about any discrepancies found. Aids in resolving the issues and follows up quickly when questions arise.

00B7 Develops, maintains, and updates client-specific databases.

00B7 Shares involvement in implementing and integrating new IT initiatives.

00B7 Ensures all operational materials, supplies and needs are scheduled or ordered.

00B7 Prepares monthly/periodic reports for the PD and/or clients.

00B7 Assists in developing and updating budgets, SOPs, and facility manuals.

00B7 Develops and assists with site-specific occupational safety and health training to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.

00B7 Directs own projects, as applicable.

00B7 Other tasks relevant to business requirements, as needed.

00B7 Requires excellent organizational skills, with working knowledge of project management.

00B7 Requires ability to prioritize workload for speed and efficiency and to handle/meet deadlines.

00B7 Requires ability to handle multiple tasks at one time, with attention to detail.

00B7 Requires excellent verbal and written communication skills.

00B7 Requires experience with Microsoft Office suite (MS Access and MS Project experience preferred).

00B7 Requires training in the handling and shipping of hazardous materials.

00B7 Requires training in blood-borne pathogens and handling of infectious substances.

00B7 Prefers experience with robotic and/or automated instrumentation.

00B7 Understanding of QA/QC monitoring and auditing procedures.

00B7 Excellent attention to detail.

00B7 Excellent organizational skills (must have ability to multi-task).

Education/ Experience:

00B7 Requires Bachelor2019s degree in a biological field; advanced degree preferred.

00B7 Requires 2+ years2019 project management experience in a related field.

00B7 Prefer previous successful supervisory experience (direct or indirect).

Certificates and/ or Licenses:

None.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Assist Project Director in managing staff, several team members directly reporting to the position.

Work Schedule:

8:00AM to 5:00PM core hours, additional hours as required.

Work Conditions/Physical Requirements:

00B7 Must be able to work in a cold environment with exposure to dry ice, liquid nitrogen cryogenics, hazardous and infectious agents, marked changes in temperature.

00B7 Must use personal protective equipment and adhere to safety protocols.

00B7 Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.

00B7 Must be able to process and handle materials frozen on dry ice (-7800B0C) or liquid nitrogen (-19600B0C).

00B7 Must be able to work in walk-in freezers or refrigerators periodically.

00B7 Must be able to use a computer up to 6 hours per day.

00B7 Must be able to work in a laboratory and warehouse/repository environment.
