Responsibilities
This position is for a skilled Cyber Threat Hunter to join an experienced hunting team that leverages an understanding of the threat landscape to proactively search for and respond to complex cyber-attacks. This person will apply expertise in information security, data analysis techniques, and attacker TTPs to solve complex security problems and improve security posture. This candidate would leverage information from sensors, devices and other controls to search for attack signal amongst a sea of noise. Understanding that the rapid evolution in technologies and threat landscape requires this person to learn and adapt, State Farm invests in continual training and certification opportunities for its threat hunters. A competitive candidate will have experience leveraging Splunk, Elastic, or SIEM platforms to analyze activity. While not required, offensive security and SOAR experience would greatly benefit the team.
Qualifications
Required skills:
* Ability to utilize in-depth knowledge of threat landscape in terms of tactics, techniques, and procedures (TTPs) to identify, investigate, and respond to complex cyber attacks
* Ability to interpret network, server, and endpoint log information
* Ability to design and implement information security solutions to detect, impede or prevent cyber attackers from obtaining their objectives
* Ability Use analytics and metrics to expand network visibility and to improve security operation effectiveness and efficiencies
* Ability to develop and consume internal and external threat intel
Preferred skills:
* Suggested certifications may include, GSEC, SEC+, and GCIA
* Knowledge of modern endpoint detection and response tools
* Experience with SIEM and logging frameworks including QRadar and Splunk, and a programming language such as Python or Powershell, etc.
* Maintain a working knowledge of multiple platforms and security disciplines including Windows, Linux, and cloud
* Must apply discretion and appropriate security measures when handling confidential and sensitive information
