The Individual Life Insurance Business has an opening for an Associate Manager within the Capital Management team and is seeking a motivated individual with strong financial analysis and interpersonal skills to join the team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the reporting and forecasting of capital as well as capital related initiatives and ad-hoc projects. This includes supporting the implementation of capital management as well as monitoring, reporting and analysis of business returns on required capital under various capital frameworks. The position requires a solid understanding of financial results on GAAP, Statutory and Tax reporting bases and the ability to translate these into meaningful financial analytics as input to strategic business decisions.
Due to the complexity involved, broad knowledge of financial and actuarial concepts is preferred. This position will interact with various areas throughout Individual Life, Global Portfolio Management, and Actuarial, as well as throughout the Global Finance Community, including Treasury, Life Finance, Regulatory Reporting, and Tax. This individual may be responsible for the development of at least one staff member.
Responsibilities include:
* Support the development of quarterly capital forecasts and actual results
* Support efforts to automate and streamline existing forecast and actual processes
* Support the development of quarterly presentations and the annual capital plan for senior management
* Partner with other finance areas, domestic business counterparts, and Corporate functions to effectively manage the forecasts within the larger planning and analysis cycle
* Support ad hoc strategic business initiatives and presentations
The candidate will have an opportunity to interact with individuals at all levels, including senior financial and business unit management.
Qualifications include:
* Undergraduate degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or business/quantitative related field
* 3-5 years of financial management/analysis/research experience with exceptional analytical skills
* Critical thinking and problem-solving experience
* Proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Ability to work well both independently and as part of a team
* Proficiency in spreadsheet or database modeling in a controlled environment
* Demonstrated leadership and partnering skills, including success in influencing outside of direct reporting line
* Experience managing and developing staff
* Strong knowledge of life insurance and actuarial concepts, GAAP, statutory and tax accounting and Prudential financial applications are preferred but could be enhanced through on the job training
* Eagerness to learn the Individual Life business and its financial drivers of profitability
* Overtime is necessary during the peak forecasting periods or in the cases of special deliverables and/or deadlines.
