Introduction
The Community Engagement Manager will execute a clear philanthropic strategy and mission and leverage external partnerships to effectively engage the communities in which Columbia Gas of Ohio (COH) serves.nbsp; The position will work externally to identify and build local nonprofit partnerships and increase the companyrsquo;s philanthropic reputation around Ohio. The manager also oversees and continues to build upon an already robust employee engagement program.
This position is a member of the Columbia Gas of Ohio Government and Public Affairs team and works closely with the Ohio Communications Team to develop communications plans around the companyrsquo;s philanthropic efforts.nbsp; This person is the external face of philanthropy and branding initiatives for COH, with a passion for helping our customers and communities while maintaining a focus on brand awareness and development.nbsp;
This role includes:
* Enhance the philanthropic image of Columbia Gas in the eyes of customers and key stakeholders.
* Allocate philanthropic funds across Ohio.
* Establish and maintain external business relationships.
* Advance the image and exposure of Columbia Gas generally through engagement in community and philanthropic efforts.
Responsibilities
* Leads programs and initiatives that increase employee engagement.
* Lead and advocate Columbia Gas giving guidelines (safety, economic and workforce development, energy education, hardship assistance, and environment), ensuring philanthropic investments balance with our guidelines.nbsp;
* Manages the Columbia Gas online volunteer system and grant programs.
* Interfaces with non-profit organizations applying for corporate support or foundation grants.
* Work with non-profit partners to place executives and senior management on non-profit boards.nbsp;
* Build external and internal relationships to enhance brand recognition and awareness.
* Partners with the Ohio Communications team to develop employee communications, talking points and speeches regarding philanthropic initiatives.
* Partners with the Ohio Communications team to facilitate external recognition of the Companyrsquo;s philanthropic activities.
* Work with NiSource Foundation to facilitate, review and process grant applications from Ohio organizations.
* Process grant applications and check requests and distributes ceremonial checks for presentation.
* In coordination with COH and NiSource leadership, execute on vision and strategy for Corporate Citizenship and Community Engagement that embraces both Columbia Gas of Ohio and NiSource goals and philanthropic activities.
Required Qualifications for Position
* Bachelor39;s degree and 7+ years of customer / community relations experience
* Excellent relationship-building skills/savvy
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to manage during an emergency situation
* Ability to deal with ambiguity and effectively manage multiple projects at one time
* Ability to analyze and solve problems
* Ability to establish credibility and support the organizations preferences and priorities
* Ability to work across organizational boundaries
* Experience working with external stakeholders and building community relations
Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position
* Internal communications experience
* Utility or other regulated industry knowledge and experience
