New York Lifes primary distribution channel is the career Agency sales force of more than 12,000 agents, operating in virtually every major city in the United States. Every agent is affiliated with one of our 117 General Offices. These offices are operated by Agency management teams responsible for agent and management recruiting, development, and sales. Approximately half our agents operate their businesses out of our General Offices, while the other half maintains independent office locations.

Our General Offices are divided up among four Zones. In addition to our Zone offices, an Agency Home Office team responsible for strategy, finance, administration, standards, training, marketing and communications supports our agents and field managers. The Agency operation also comprises teams charged with growing our business in key market segments, including the middle-income market, the advanced (high-net-worth) market, select cultural markets, and the womens markets. Agents sell individual life insurance, individual annuities, and long-term care insurance products, as well as mutual funds.

Responsibilities

In a highly competitive and energetic sales environment, you will make proactive phone calls to New York Life (NYL) agents to share sales ideas, provide product information, identify book of business sales opportunities and support agents with closing sales opportunities. While partnering with an External Disability Product Consultant, the Internal Disability Product Consultant is responsible for increasing disability sales within the territory. The Internal Disability Product Consultant is responsible for providing insight and product knowledge via the agency sales desk channel and to collaborate closely with business partners.

Make proactive sales calls to NYL agents in an effort to increase disability sales by uncovering opportunities and developing relationships

Work closely with the Disability Product Consultants to develop and execute a business plan to maximize territorial sales

Analyze agent and office sales performance and create a strategic plan to generate growth

Become an expert in New York Life Disability products and general knowledge of foundational products

Field inbound calls from agents regarding disability products, case design and identify selling opportunities

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree preferred or equivalent work experience

Prior insurance or investment sales experience

Must have the ability to work independently and in a team environment

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Must have strong relationship building and sales skills

Must be a detail-oriented, well organized self-starter with high energy and creativity

Life and Health Insurance License required (or obtain within 90 days from date of hire)

Series 6 and Series 63 preferred

Insurance industry designations (i.e. CLU, ChFC, CLTC, DIA, DIF, etc.) preferred

Proficient with Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Proven ability to pay attention to detail and multitask
