Boeing Global Services (BGS) is seeking an associate level Product Review Engineer to join our Liaison Engineering team in San Antonio, TX. This position is in support of the F/A-18 Service Life Modification program. However, other support could include platforms on contract for modifications, storage, annual and time based life cycle checks. (May include: C-17, Executive Transport Fleet comprised of 737,757, and 747, KC-46, 787, 777, KC-135, or E8).
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
* Applies basic knowledge of Boeing design and/or engineering principles to develop interim or final engineering solutions to product/process issues throughout production and/or for technical, operational and quality issues that cannot be resolved by the customer.
* Analyzes, conducts failure analysis, root cause analysis and troubleshoots to understand root cause.
* Provides assistance to identify solutions.
* Provides written dispositions for routine design non-conformances.
* Supports activities to identify deviations that could impact design intent and safety and product/process improvements.
* Develops routine customer correspondence for continued safe operation and maintenance of equipment. Participates in Material Review Boards and Integrated Product Teams (IPTs). Ensures supplier and build partner comply with Boeing standards.
* Represents the engineering community in the build through post production environment.
* Recommends simple non-destructive test procedures, tools, standards. Conducts simple static strength analysis to validate interim design repairs meet original design loads criteria.
Must be willing to work variable shifts, including weekends and overtime. Some positions may also be rotating shifts
Security Clearance:
This position requires the ability to obtain a US Security Clearance for which the US Government requires US Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
* Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship
* Engineering degree in any of the following majors: Aeronautical Engineering; Aerospace Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Systems Engineering
* 1+ years experience with the design of structural rework/repairs to restore the aircraft or system to original design capability
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (DESIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE):
* Experienced in reading/creating Engineering drawings, specifications, processes and design manuals
* Experienced in researching engineering designs in order to develop defect solutions to product/ process issues for production or simple technical in-service issues
* Minimum of 2 years experience of assisting with analyses, root cause analysis and drafting dispositions for non-conformances
* Minimum of 2 years experience collecting, researching, and evaluating issues for product/process improvement opportunities that may include recurrent product issues
* Modification & Repair experience
TYPICAL EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 2 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. Master). In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
Relocation:
This position is located in a location that does not offer relocation. Candidates must live in the immediate area or relocate at their own expense.
Travel:
Occasional travel (10%) may be required in support of the program and customer.
