PURPOSE AND SCOPE OF POSITION:
The Product and Analytical Development (P&AD) department develops novel analytical methods and technologies with the aim of advancing Bristol Myers Squibbs cell therapy portfolio. P&AD partners extensively with multiple functions and programs teams to improve existing technologies and identify novel technologies that enable the delivery of transformational cellular therapies for patients.
The Manager, Cell Therapy Analytical Technology will act as a liaison between Bristol Myers Squibb Cell Therapy P&AD and external and internal partners in the areas of analytical technology evaluation and implementation. External partners to include industry partners that specialize in the development of analytical technologies, industry consortia, and scientific associations. The individual will be tasked with being a single point of contact for external collaboration partners and prospective partners, working to identify Bristol Myers Squibb subject matter experts to evaluate analytical technologies, support and review project progress, and deliver feedback to our partner organizations. The person will triage incoming communications and route them as needed to deliver responses, establish a portfolio of external collaboration projects, and maintain metrics to deliver updates on progress across efforts. This role will interact with multiple functions within the Bristol Myers Squibb Cell Therapy Development and Operations organization and be closely connected to the development of new analytical technologies that will be essential to ensuring Bristol Myers Squibb is on the cutting edge of gene-engineered cell therapy. Position can be based in Seattle, Washington or Warren, New Jersey.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Act as single point of contact between BMS P&AD and external collaboration partners ensuring timely and open communication of objectives, plans, progress, and results
* Maintain portfolio view of external collaboration projects and deliver updates and reports on open activities
* Proactively communicate potential issues and concerns to provide transparency to management and stakeholders
* Build a network of BMS SMEs to partner with for assessments of potential new projects
* Facilitate meetings and interactions with external collaborators monitoring deliverables, decisions, timelines, and risks
* Facilitate and lead internal project reviews to assess progress
* Ensure internal resources maintain engagement with collaboration projects
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Education:
A PhD degree in Cell Biology, or related field with 1-3 years of relevant industry experience, or A Bachelors or Masters in a scientific discipline with 7-10 years of relevant industry experience.
Experience
Basic Qualifications:
* Experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical space
* Ability to deliver results in a matrix environment and the ability to influence and engage resources for projects
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Exceptional listening, problem-solving, negotiation, and facilitation skills
* Scientific curiosity and eagerness to establish an understanding of a wide variety of cell therapy technology areas and development
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience with evaluation of technology for use in a GMP setting
* Experience with flow cytometry application and technology platforms
* Understanding of cell therapy technologies
WORKING CONDITIONS (US Only):
* Work will be conducted in office and laboratory environments with a mix of natural and LED lighting with low level background noise Personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn at all times when in the laboratory, including but not limited to lab coats, protective eye gear, and disposable gloves. Work environment may include extended time working in biosafety cabinets and liquid nitrogen storage containers. Physical activity involves moving between wet-lab stations to execute experimental plans, moving up and down stairs or elevators to access equipment or materials on other floors, and may involve lifting containers (usually < 25 pounds). Data analysis and virtual meeting activities may involve extended time in front of a screen. Seated and standing positions are offered for non-laboratory office environments.
* 40% time seated desk work with ergonomic working spaces and sit/stand desks; 60% time in laboratory or meetings.
