Position Overview

Provide support for desktop operations and local site server systems. System administration, development, security and support of all relevant infrastructures.

Job Responsibilities

* Provide remote and hands on user support for desktops, laptops and local lab equipment

* Provide technical guidance and administrative support to users and management for desktop support and local server systems

* Participate in projects and teams as advised

* Perform maintenance and troubleshooting of relevant hardware and software

* Implementation/support of network operating systems and services

* Configuration, installation & deployment of all PCs and PC related peripherals

* Support local manufacturing systems

* Develop and maintain appropriate desktop and server related procedures and ensure these procedures are carried out

* Develop & maintain appropriate disaster recovery procedures

* Provide project management for implementations and roll-outs

* Provide Manager/Supervisor with equipment projections and assist with purchasing

* Perform daily backup procedures

* Recommend solutions for improving service, efficiency and effectiveness

* Perform system analysis and utilization reports

* Log into and use telephone and computer-based Service Desk system to record all support activities

Minimum Qualifications

* At least 3 years experience in desktop support

* 3 years experience of network applications / operating systems / hardware. As well as experience implementing and maintaining Windows based application servers

* Excellent knowledge of PC hardware, Windows client OS and associated peripherals

* Knowledge of Microsoft Server OS & backup

* Knowledge of LAN and Wireless technologies

* Good written and verbal communication skills

* Excellent judgement and strong analytical skills as well as follow-up and organizational skills

* Ability to perform risk assessments

* Degree preferred

* Up-to-date professional certification in the relevant technical area

Other Qualifications

* Be prepared to travel and work unsociable hours as requested

* Provide out of hours support

* Provide coverage for National Holidays

* Hold a current driving license
