Position Purpose:
The Microsoft 365 (M365) Collaboration Engineer is responsible for identifying and architecting the M365 platform including Exchange and SharePoint (on-premises and cloud-based) for the enterprise. This includes oversight of the usability as well as the installation, configuration, and implementation/migration to the new technology. This position also serves as the escalation point for complex or confidential support situations.
Internal/External Collaboration
Works cross-functionally with internal/external IT partners to implement and manage collaboration systems to meet enterprise objectives.
Leads the development of long-term strategic goals for collaboration systems, software, and physical endpoints.
Functions as a Technical Lead on projects by developing an understanding of existing systems and processes as well as identifying/determining future needs.
Works with Vendor partners to identify and resolve complex product issues.
Review and implement upgrades to critical infrastructure, servers, and applications involved in an M365 Hybrid environment.
Architect and implement collaboration technologies and advanced functions of technology.
Architect and implement migrations for mergers and acquisitions.
Customer Support
Subject Matter Expert of M365 platform and supporting technologies.
Diagnoses, troubleshoots, and resolves advanced/complex software and hardware issues across the enterprise.
Assist the support teams as a Tier 3 escalation point and provides guidance and training on current and future IT needs.
Develops metrics/reporting on system performance/usage.
? Process Management
Responsible for new product and service evaluation, design, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation.
Assists with architecture, design, implementation, and maintenance of collaboration technology systems.
Follows established ITIL processes/procedures and drives improvements with process, quality assurance, and standard operating procedures.
Continually drives improvements including process waste reduction and automation.
Create scripts and other automated processes to maximize operational efficiencies.?
Involved in budgeting, scheduling, ordering, and supporting collaboration technology for on-premises and cloud-based environments. Provides estimates to project management and gathers quotes/creates PO’s up to estimated amounts in support of these efforts. Land O’Lakes business units utilization of collaboration technology continue to increase and this role is critical in the continued support and success of these initiatives.
Required Education:
High school diploma or GED
Required Experience:
Experience with the following technologies:
At least 5 years of full-time experience troubleshooting and supporting the Office/Microsoft 365 platform. Including Exchange and SharePoint.
At least 2 years’ enterprise experience with Teams, Power Platform, and Yammer.
Knowledge of:
Extensive PowerShell knowledge in creating and maintaining scripts.
Implementation/configuration/support of Microsoft 365 platform/service components, collaboration tools and technologies supporting these individual components.
Migrations to Microsoft 365 and Integrations due to mergers and acquisitions.
Core understanding of Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, and Identity Federation.
Ability/Skills:
Effective time management skills and a demonstrated ability to balance demands from projects, proactive enhancements, and reactive day to day operational support, occasionally in high-pressure situations
Strong verbal/written communication skills with an ability to explain technical concepts to a non-technical audience
Ability to document technical environment(s) and translate to functional understanding
Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships in a team atmosphere and collaborative environment
Build a close working relationship with other engineering teams, to leverage in case of escalations and to drive cross-functional improvements
Understand business goals and drivers and translate into appropriate facilitating technologies
Tracks industry trends and maintains knowledge of new and emerging technologies
Preferred Education:
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field.
Preferred Competencies:
Additional experience with PowerShell, Active Directory, Azure Active Directory, Email Authentication Mechanisms, Microsoft Defender for Office 365 (aka Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection), and Windows OS as required to complete daily functions.
