As a member of Facebooks new Civil Rights Organization, you will play a key role in supporting Facebooks ongoing efforts to ensure that significant company decisions are made through a Civil Rights lens. Youll serve as a pivotal team member and a direct resource for many teams across the company. In particular, youll help the Civil Rights Organization address threats to voting rights and civic participation, primarily in the United States. The successful candidate will have a strong track record of identifying and addressing civil rights issues and understanding and applying civil rights laws/concepts. Candidates should be accomplished at building and managing relationships with both internal and external subject matter experts and other relevant stakeholders.
Manager, Voting Rights, Civil Rights Responsibilities
* Serves as the Voting Rights and Civic Participation expert in the Civil Rights Organization
* Helps instill civil rights best practices within the company, and proactively identifies and addresses civil rights issues
* Contributes relevant civil rights content to guidance documents and other resources
* Leads engagement with external voting rights and democracy experts
* Supports other Civil Rights engagements and strategic projects
Minimum Qualifications
* 8+ years of experience in law, policy, advocacy, academia, or other relevant fields, with experience in Voting Rights and Civic Participation
* Bachelor's degree
* Experience identifying and addressing civil rights issues across protected classes, and/or advocating for civil rights or advancing civil rights claims
* Expertise in discrimination concepts, principles, and applications, including both intentional and unintentional discrimination
* Experience working inside fast-moving companies/organizations
* Communication skills and project management experience
* Familiarity with the Companys July 2020 Civil Rights Audit - Final Report
Preferred Qualifications
* Advanced degree
* Experience with consensus-building
* Experience operating independently and executing on both the strategic and operational level
* Experience working collaboratively across a wide variety of functions to drive effective outcomes
* Experience identifying and addressing civil rights issues in technology products
* Experience or expertise understanding the impacts of technology and social media on individuals, communities, and society
* Experience working with technical and product teams
* Experience working on a new team with ambiguity and changing responsibilities
* Experience representing companies externally and internally at the executive level
* Experience working in a global organization preferably in the technology industry
* Experience working with a broad array of teams to implement success metrics
* Experience building a program from inception through implementation through evaluation
