Job Description

The Team Leader trains and leads assigned team(s), but normally does not have Direct Reports, performance management responsibilities nor direct hiring, firing, or disciplinary action responsibilities. On the very rare occasion the Team Leader has direct reports, this is due to Business Need and Staffing Models due to a skeletal staff. Normally, performs the same or similar duties of the employees more than 20% of the time. Manage workflow schedules to predict service. The Team Leader is a Subject Matter Expert in area(s) assigned and has demonstrated hands-on skills and experience in area(s) assigned. The Team Leader can be assigned to any area of a Plant, Warehouse or Distribution Center. You will work 1pm-9pm.

REPRESENTATIVE ACTIVITIES: Activities and duties will vary dependent upon functional area assigned. Activities may include, but are not limited to:

General

* Performs the same or similar duties of the employees more than 20% of the time. Leads the team, but does not have direct reports, GPS duties, disciplinary duties, etc.
* Applies advanced skills to the position or specialization.
* Designated a Lead or Working Supervisor
* Orients, trains, assigns and checks the work of junior level employees.
* Duties and tasks reflect substantial variety and complexity.
* Independently resolves advanced questions and problems by referring to established procedures and policies. Rarely refers to a higher level.
* Works independently; receives minimal guidance.
* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish assigned tasks and goals.

Leading

* Monitor and evaluate team members, and adjust training where needed.
* Act as a team role model and change-agent.
* Positively lead and influence team members to partner together to achieve individual and business goals.
* Acting as liaison, represents the Team in general interfacing with the rest of the organization.
* May provide input to management regarding individual team member performance.

Operations

* Maintain quality control processes to ensure products/services meet quality standards; lead implementation of process improvements.
* Translate goals into team priorities and respond to production needs.
* Assist Manager with production flow, staffing schedule and resources to budget and plan.
* Communicate and monitor key operational metrics.
* Ensure best practices and standard operating procedures are being followed by conducting frequent business audits.
* Follow the Employee Handbook; obtain approval from the production manager for any exceptions.
* Ensure that all reports follow the Standard Operating Conditions and training instructions.
* Collaborate with other functional areas to resolve problems and develop improved manufacturing processes.
* Provide leadership for team-based continuous improvement projects.
* Make efforts to reduce manufacturing waste and process complexity.
* Assist as needed with maintaining all timekeeping, overtime and vacation records and schedules.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

* High School Diploma or GED.
* 5+ years directly related experience with 1+ year team leader or equivalent experience preferred.
* Subject matter expert in area(s) assigned.
* Strong ability to lead, train and coach a diverse team of individuals performing a variety of tasks.
* Ability to think ahead, anticipate problems, make decisions and take appropriate action.
* Good written and verbal communication skills.
* Experience leading continuous improvement efforts and knowledgeable on ELS Operating Principles.
* Excellent customer focus necessary.
* Good, coordination, planning, written and verbal communication skills.
* Operational knowledge of applicable systems.
