Come join an exciting and innovative engineering team! The Custom Ads Product and Tech (CAPT) team builds products that fuel World Wide Custom Ads growth and enable it to scale. We learn from advertising customers to bridge gaps in our existing ad-product portfolio, and partner with Advertisers to test new concepts with a view to developing the most valuable ones into scalable ad products. We empower the wider World Wide Custom Ads team by building products and features that reduce operational cost.
A day in the life
As a Software Development Engineer with the Custom Ads Product and Tech team, you will design and develop solutions that enable delivery of innovative ad products and experiences across a wide range of devices and web. You will be working on tools and infrastructure challenges involving novel customer experiences, big data and large-scale back-end web services, all with the goal of delivering a seamless experience to the customer.

The Custom Advertising team builds innovative advertising experiences that delight customers and advertisers worldwide. These range from using AR to showcase advertisers products, to leveling-up the car-buying experience with hyper-realistic vehicle configurators and even delivering a full sized T-Rex in an Amazon box with a little help from Alexa (try: Ask Jurassic World whats in the box?). Our business is growing rapidly, and weve only just begun to scratch the surface!
Job responsibilities
As a SDE on the CAPT team, you'll work with Product and Program Managers, Design Technologists and Creative Designers to use the build/test/learn methodology to enhance existing and create new ad products. You'll use your problem-solving skills, collaborating with creative and technical teams, thinking-big and inventing and simplifying to solve advertising challenges. You'll collaborate with teams across Amazon to integrate and optimize existing ad products to take advantage of Amazon's scale and reach.
You will develop front-end, middle-tier, back-end and automation solutions for consumer-facing products. You will leverage your technical ability, excellent organizational skills, great communication skills to build and solve challenging and ambiguous problems. You'll use your ingenuity and motivation to achieve results in a fast-paced environment.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
2+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
Programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design
1+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems.

Experience with hardware engineering and hardware/software solutions for internet of things devices
Knowledge of software development methodology and tools, with demonstrated experience in an developer role
Object-oriented and test-driven design and coding skills
Coding experience with automated frameworks, tools and services
Ability to effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions
Ability to think abstractly and deal well with ambiguous/undefined problems
Experience in Agile or Scrum software development methodologies
