UX Research Manager

UX Research Managers on the Client Experience & Digital team (CXD) are fierce advocates for the humans who interface with our digital experience in pursuit of their financial goals. As a UX Research Manager, youll help lead a group of dedicated UX researchers with a growth mindset as they work to influence and enhance the experience through lean agile research practices. Beyond developing an amazing group of people with diverse backgrounds, youll help refine our processes and set best practices, while enjoying a great team culture and supportive leadership.

In this roll you will

* Conduct research using a wide variety of qualitative and quantitative methods as well as human-centered design principles in collaboration with other UX and product disciplines (i.e. data analytics, strategy, content, etc.). Work on broad research studies and lab/family projects with high impact.

* Hire, evaluate, and supervise a diverse and inclusive team. Provide guidance and training as necessary to develop people. Set performance standards, review performance, and make informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.

* Manage expert-level user experience researchers and research practices. Partner with teams across CXD to help inform, inspire, and validate design and product decisions.

* Prioritize and coordinate cross-lab and family-level UX research activities through collaboration with other researchers, strategists, and product / UX leadership.

* Collaborate closely with a world class team of UX researchers to create a breadth and depth of strategic impact across the organization.

* Work collaboratively with leadership to refine an organizational structure that meets the needs of crew development and leverages the strengths of a lean UX-focused business.

* Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

What it takes:

* 8+ years of hands-on UX research experience, familiarity with various qualitative and quantitative methods and experience integrating user research into product and design

* Experience and vested interest in mentoring and managing others with a player/coach and servant leadership orientation.

* Demonstrated experience with research at every step of the product development cycle, informing both strategic and tactical decisions.

* BA/BS degree in a related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience, with degree in HCI, Psychology, Sociology, Human Factors, Usability, or Information Science; advanced degree or equivalent industry experience preferred

* Compelling communication and presentation skills

* Ability to facilitate group meetings and workshops

* Demonstrated ability to prioritize initiatives and influence strategic decisions

* Strong management skills and experience balancing multiple priorities simultaneously

* Demonstrated ability to manage ambiguity

* Strong business acumen; an understanding of business goals, strategies, and pressures while being aware of industry trends and competitive actions as a context for managing the UX research team and practice
