Release Train Engineer is part of the Digital Portfolio Management team who supports both eBusiness and Digital Engineering (DE).
As the company continually follows Scaled Agile Framework as part of the digital transformation, in order to become more efficient optimizing work and providing the best digital products and services for our customers, the Release Train Engineer (RTE) plays a critical role leading and driving program success, fostering continuous improvement, along with acting as a binding agent that connects a 201Cteam of teams201D.
A Successful RTE ensures cohesion teams and drives effective delivery of value across the Agile Release Train. S/he coordinates and facilitates events, integration, and delivery, at the program level to ensure team alignment and continuity. RTEs are responsible for scheduling and planning multiple critical SAFe events including PI Planning, System demos, Release Planning, Agile Release Train (ART) sync, and Scrum of Scrums. They also assist and coordinate deployment and release activities as needed.
Strong RTE candidates exhibit excellent analytical abilities, creative problem solving skills and clear strength in planning and organizing capabilities. Additionally they must have excellent leadership, negotiation and mediation skills, and have the ability to work with all levels of the organization.
What will you do?
* Plan and facilitate SAFe ceremonies
* Within Digital Portfolio Management team, support PMO and Portfolio Management with detailed status report on key initiatives
* Foresee and call out risks/issues on schedule, resource capacity, and scope from product teams
* Work with product managers to understand and help communicate business priority clearly to product teams, especially when the priority shifts.
* Coordinate team dependencies within the same release train and external dependencies from other trains and teams. (ex: ETO, Digital Marketing, Regional dev teams)
* Remove blockers called out from Scrum of Scrums and ART sync
* Take ownership on key and big initiative for execution and delivery. Be the single contact point for business stakeholders to bring communication efficiency and avoid confusion.
* Work with Release Management to align team deployment activities and ensure quality testing for sign-off
* Schedule features and system demos across teams with business for key capabilities
* Consistently track and monitor product teams progress after PI planning and provide guidance/support
* Facilitate and schedule workshops with business, Engineering Managers, Architects, and Solution Owners for solutioning and/or requirements clarifications as needed.
How will you get here?
* Bachelor2019s Degree required
* Agile or SAFe certifications preferred
* 5- 7 years of IT experience in a professional environment
* Release Train Engineer and SAFe experiences a plus
* Theoretical and practical knowledge of IT technologies and practices
* Ability to explain and communicate problems, issues, and go-to-green plan to business
* Strong tactical, strategic thinking, problem solving skills, and leadership
* Able to achieve big picture objectives while paying attention to details
* Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
* Experience managing projects and programs across geographical regions
* Ability to function in a team-oriented environment and influence staff, colleagues, and superiors
* Ability to lead and motivate diverse project teams and juggle multiple tasks
