Overview

HarperCollins is currently seeking aProduction Associateto work with the Production Manager and Production team to produce frontlist childrens titles in a variety of 1-color and 4-color formats. This position will be responsible for working closely with designers, editors and print vendors to ensure that high quality standards are met. Must thrive in a fast-paced, team environment where quality, budget and schedules are paramount, and organization is a must.

Responsibilities

* Oversees the production of 200+ print and e-book titles a year.
* Estimates titles for acquisition, spec approval and final pricing.

* Coordinates all phases of production between Editorial, Design, Managing Editorial.

* Develops and prices special effects used on components for maximum effective use in the most fiscally-responsible manner with supervision.

* Processes orders for books, sales material and ebooks.

* Works closely with vendors to create and achieve quality products in a timely manner.

* Triages technical, procedural and quality issues with consultation with supervisor.

* Maintains and follows up on schedules of all titles.

* Carries out special projects as needed.

* Assists Production Manager and Director when necessary

Qualifications

* 3+ years of book production experience preferred
* Bachelor's degree or equivalent

* Strong analytical, organizational and problem solving skills

* Familiarity with digital asset management

* Proficiency in color management essential

* PC experience including proficiency in MS Office

* Mac experience and working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite a plus

* Capacity to think and react gracefully in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

* Thorough, accurate and articulate verbal and written communication skills

* Adaptable and has the capacity to think and react gracefully in a high-energy, fast-paced environment

* Ability to multi-task and simultaneously complete multiple projects
