About this role

The Newmont treasury department provides strategic analysis and customer focused services, to meet the needs of our stakeholders with a focus on maintaining an industry leading balance sheet and financial flexibility to fund global operations.

Your role will consist of

As an intern, you will be responsible for implementing specific Sales and Marketing projects, as well as supporting the day-to-day activities of your department. The exact projects will be established according to your availability, interest, skills, and experience, in addition to the specific business needs. Newmonts Sales and Marketing oversees the sales and logistics of a global portfolio of intermediate commodity products from Newmonts mine sites to a global network of customers that process the material from the mines.

Possible projects include:

* Develop and document product flow charts for global product portfolio
* Analysis of other concentrate producers and sellers on west coast of Mexico
* Explore sampling methodologies for products
* Develop financial and technical understanding of customers operations
* Metal market analysis forward looking and historical
* Investigation of new products and opportunities

The above duties and responsibilities are representative of the nature and level of work; other work may also be assigned.

Your training, skills, and experience checklist

* Undergraduate/Graduate/Doctoral students preferred, graduating in December 2021 or later Metallurgy, Geology, Mine Engineering, Finance, Accounting, Business We will consider other similar disciplines with a technical or financial understanding.
* Experience in mining and/or passion to learn about the hard-rock mining industry preferred
* Strong organization, project and time management skills
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills; comfort engaging with senior leaders and global teams
* Strong research methods capability and writing skills. Additional languages are a plus.
* At least a 3.0 GPA or equivalent
* Valid work authorization to work in the United States for this position.

Working conditions and location

Summer intern positions begin in May 2021 and conclude in August 2021. The exact dates are flexible depending on each students availability and our business need. Our internships are full-time paid positions (40 hours/week).

This internship is based at our corporate headquarters in Denver, CO. It is possible some travel may be required to one or more of Newmonts sites. There is ample opportunity for internal networking within our company.

The hourly rate offered for this overtime-eligible role is $20 (Freshman) - $36 (PhD). The hourly rate is tied to the Colorado market for jobs performed in Colorado. The hourly rate offer will not be based on a candidates wage rate history at other jobs, and by law, Newmont will not seek information about wage rate history, and candidates should not share such information with Newmont. This role is not eligible for benefits except for as applicable by law.
