Job Description
Be a part of the legacy: Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program
Our Research Laboratories Postdoctoral Research Fellow Program aims to be a best-in-industry program for industrial postdoctoral researchers, designed to provide you with an academic focus in a commercial environment. With the resources, reach, and expertise of a large pharmaceutical company, postdoctoral researchers will be positioned to excel in an institution committed to breakthrough innovation in research and discovery.
What You'll Be Doing:
Recent advances in digital technologies have led to the emergence of a new class of potential endpoints that can be measured across multiple layers of hardware and software. These digital technologies can support continuous measurements outside the physical confines of the clinical environment and have created new opportunities for patient care and biomedical research, enabling remote monitoring and decentralized clinical trial designs.
The postdoctoral fellow will have the opportunity to work on this cutting-edge research in the digital health arena by driving the exploration and analysis of the data across studies. Objectives of this role would be to assess the relationship between digital measurements and relevant clinical endpoints and evaluate the ability of digital measurements to quantify Parkinsons Disease (PD) progression and treatment effect relative to the current standard of using clinical endpoints. The postdoctoral fellow will work in a collaborative environment alongside a diverse team of modelers, experimentalists, and subject matter experts to gain a quantitative understanding of the PD progression.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Visualize and analyze complex data from digital devices.
* Work with internal and external partners to define analytics strategy for managing multi-sensor data obtained during clinical trials using remote measurement technologies, including contributing to data processing and analysis pipelines.
* Identify a combination of key digital endpoints alongside clinical endpoints that correlate well with the disease progression.
* Build disease progression models for digital biomarker research in collaboration with key partners
* Optimize study design elements for internal go/no go decisions for PoC trials using digital assessments.
* Stay current with emerging trends in data science and drug development
* Communicate research to internal/external audiences and publish manuscripts
What You Need:
* Candidates must currently hold a PhD OR receive a PhD by fall of 2021. Degree should be in Computer Science, Mathematics/Statistics, Biomedical Engineering, or related technical field.
* Hands-on experience with modeling of data, including applying and/or developing machine learning, deep learning, or neural network algorithms.
* Proficiency in at least one data science/analytics programing language (e.g., MATLAB, Python, R).
* Strong computational skills in mathematical modeling, data analysis, and data visualization.
It's Great If You Have:
* Background in neuroscience and neurodegenerative disease pathophysiology.
* Strong interest in digital technologies.
* Prior experience working with healthcare, biosensor data, or physiological data.
* Knowledge in big data technologies including cloud/cluster computing.
* Strong leadership, interpersonal, communication, problem-solving, and collaboration skills.
