Job Description:
This opportunity is for a position with the L3Harris Environmental Test Laboratory. Candidate will coordinate, prepare, manage, and execute environmental testing projects designed to take Harris products to the limit of their functional and structural design. Candidate will learn to operate climatic chambers designed to replicate the freezing temperatures of earth poles, the scorching temperatures of the desserts, the humidity of the jungles, the altitudes of the skies, and the frigid vacuum of space. Similarly, the candidate will learn to operate electrodynamic shakers where harsh vibration environments are reproduced to test products for their survivability to transportation, gun fire, aircraft-carrier arrests, and rocket launch conditions. Candidate will be working in a team orientated environment in a laboratory that runs year-round. Weekend support will be required as needed.
Essential Functions:
* Plan, document, coordinate, and execute, environmental exposure tests on high-technology, high-value hardware produced for the defense industry.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree, Mechanical Engineering.
* 2+ years of experience with environmental testing in Dynamics (vibration, shock, acceleration) and/or Climatics (thermal/vacuum, thermal/altitude, humidity).
Preferred Additional Skills:
* Previous experience with testing aerospace hardware is highly desired.
* Mechanically oriented with strong measurements background.
* Proficient in the operation of standard Engineering tools (CAD modelling, MatLab, etc.) and business tools (MS Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
* Strong sense of responsibility, accountability, and follow-through.
* Great initiative and willingness to learn.
* Good organizational, verbal and written communication skills.
