Senior Tax Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Tax Analyst to expand VMwares domestic tax team, based primarily in Broomfield, Colorado, and be a key contributor reporting to the Director of Tax Compliance. In this role, the Senior Tax Analyst will perform a variety of duties related to US federal and state tax compliance/accounting including the following:

Core Responsibilities

* Preparing US federal and state/local income/franchise tax returns, estimates and extension calculations and executing related tax payments

* Preparing supporting schedules for quarterly and year-end income tax provisions

* Maintaining and reconciling schedules related to book vs. tax differences and tax attributes, (e.g. Sch Ms, tax depreciation/amortization, NOLs, and credits)

* Developing working papers and documentation to defend against scrutiny from federal and state taxing authorities

* Preparing responses to US federal and state/local taxing authorities and tracking all related communications

* Performing federal and state tax research and documenting tax technical positions

* Coordinating, working with and leveraging from external tax advisers

* Assisting with special tax projects as needed

Required Skills, Education and Experience

* BA/BS degree in Accounting or related field

* 3-5 years of tax experience with large CPA firm and/or public company corporate tax department.

* Solid understanding of corporate tax compliance, consolidated returns, state tax returns and US GAAP

* Strong organization and project management skills with ability to prioritize multiple projects in a fast-paced environment

* Strong analytical/critical thinking skills with a mindset to continuously learn

* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, ability to collaborate effectively with business stakeholders, team members and external advisers

* Proficient with Microsoft Office

* Assertive and self-motivated

Preferred Skills, Education and Experience

* Masters in Taxation

* CPA license

* A working knowledge of ASC 740

* Experience with Corptax or OneSource tax software

* Experience with tax research tools (e.g. BNA, RIA and/or CCH)

* Experience with SAP
