Energy R&D Intellectual Property Data Management Paralegal, Mid
Key Role:
Apply support and expertise across the Research and Development (R&D) program planning life cycle. Consult R&D and Science and Technology (S&T) organizations on the reporting and tracking of intellectual property such as subject inventions, patents, or software arising from government-funded research awards and compliance with other legal requirements. Facilitate compliance with intellectual property reporting requirements through coordination, assistance, and audits. Apply expertise across the S&T domain and within the R&D enterprise, including intellectual property best practices. Identify and collect data sources, analyzes and extracts key data and information, evaluates and monitors data quality to meet the organization's information system needs and requirements. Develop or contribute to solutions to a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Works independently with some guidance; may review or guide activities of more junior employees.
Basic Qualifications:
* 3 years of experience in a professional work environment
* Experience with client relationship management
* Experience in working with large data sets and analysis techniques
* Ability to organize and facilitate small meetings, track actions, and monitor multiple and overlapping deadlines
* BA or BS Degree
Additional Qualifications:
* Experienced in a data-focused position
* Experience with advanced energy technology or S&T focused organizations
* Experience with intellectual property, marketing, research, and strategic analysis
* Experience with patent or publication databases including Scopus, Web of Science, USPTO, or iEdison
* Knowledge of US patent law and PTO rules of practice relating to filing of patent applications and assignment of licensing practice
