DESCRIPTION
The Senior Manager will be responsible for developing and executing public policy and advocacy priorities on issues in support of consumer protection and data governance. The Senior Manager will represent Amazon before federal policymakers and executive branch agencies, and coordinate advocacy work on these issues with external consultants, trade associations, and other relevant stakeholder groups.
The Senior Manager will work collaboratively and transparently with Amazons core business units and others in public policy, legal, and PR to ensure alignment between business priorities and public policy goals. The Senior Manager will assess and communicate potential government activities back to the business, develop mitigation or enhancement strategies and positions, and help coordinate external advocacy efforts, outreach programs, and key initiatives in concert with business objectives.
This position is based in Arlington, VA.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors degree required; Juris Doctor or Masters preferred.
At least 8+ years of public policy experience with a keen working understanding of consumer protection, data privacy and security, marketing/advertising, and consumer electronics and services.

Ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others. Be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment/decision-making skills, and political acumen. Ability to intelligently build a course of action, analyze trade-offs, and make recommendations even in ambiguous situations.
Experience interacting with law enforcement stakeholders and community and civil society organizations.
Strong skills in advocacy and using spoken and written rhetoric to persuade and inform.
Demonstrated experience working within government, companies, consultancies, trade associations, or equivalent organizations.
Prior experience with steep learning curves.
Ability to effectively communicate complex information to a wide variety of audiences.
