AWS Internet of Things (IoT) Analytics Services is a relatively new organization delivering higher-order IoT services to help customers integrate the benefits of IoT quickly, easily and cost effectively. We are focused on solving problems with data from connected devices. We are looking for an innovative, self-directed Software Development Engineer on a new initiative. The role will work with our team of engineers to devise and create full stack building blocks for an end-to-end experience for developers and systems operators alike. The successful candidate should have exceptional problem solving skills, an ability to think big about product operator experience, exude strong business judgment, and have demonstrated experience driving cross-functional teams. Work/Life Balance
We value work-life balance. Were flexible when people occasionally need to work from home. We generally keep core in-office hours from 10am to 5pm. We are builder-operators of our services at AWS and have a modest on-call rotation where youll participate approximately once every 2 months. We dont like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we dont get paged for the same issue twice. This is incredibly important to us because a stable operational load is indicative of high service reliability for our customers.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

4+ years of professional software development experience
3+ years of programming experience with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C including object-oriented design
2+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and current systems

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Experience in designing and building sophisticated fault-tolerant distributed systems.
Familiarity with IoT technology stack and metrics.
Experience in driving systemic operational improvements.
