You Will Be Responsible For:

* Communicates with courtesy when interacting with internal or external customersin person or on the telephone.
* Demonstrates collaboration and teamwork in managing patient flow, i.e., promotes timely patient placement by following hospital policy for patient admission, discharge and transfer.
* Maintains safe practice by demonstrating unit-specific clinical competency and demonstrating compliance with all regulatory standards.

* Participates in peer interviewing and peer review process.
* Assists the Nurse Leader or designee, with updates and maintains unit records, reports, and forms.
* Participates in monthly staff meeting for assigned unit.

* Provides required documentation for personnel file in a timely manner.
* Assists with performance appraisals/corrective action and counseling

* Demonstrates knowledge of role in HAZARDOUS MATERIALS and WASTE PROGRAM, including procedures to follow in case of spill
* Demonstrates knowledge of role in EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PROGRAM. Participates in Disaster Drills, as appropriate
* Demonstrates knowledge of role in the LIFE SAFETY PROGRAM and participates in Fire Drills as appropriate
* Demonstrates knowledge of role in the MEDICAL EQUIPMENT PROGRAM and how to report malfunctioning equipment
* Demonstrates knowledge of role in the UTILITY SYSTEMS PROGRAM and the departments response to utility failure

Qualifications
What You Will Need:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

* Possess a broad Respiratory knowledge, leadership ability, accepts responsibility, exercises authority, and functions independently
* Demonstrated supervisory skills
* Good communication skills for interdepartmental relationships
* Has ability to work a varied schedule, to include night and weekend hours, with visibility to all shifts.
* Must be able to use all systems (i.e. Cerner, Clarivia, Capacity Management) as required on unit

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

* Graduate of accredited Respiratory Therapy School with a minimum of an AS/AAS degree
* Current National Board of Respiratory Care Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential
* Minimum of three (3) years acute care experience with 1-2 years of supervisory experience (Supervisor, Relief Team Leader, etc. included)
* BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications per American Heart Association/American Academy of Pediatrics

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:

* Bachelors degree in a clinical or business area
* Five (5) years of Critical Care experience and 1-2 years of management experience
* National certification per the NBRC in a specialty preferred (NPS or ACCS)
* Neonatal and/or Pediatric Transport experience preferred

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:

* Current valid Florida State license as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
* Current BLS, ACLS, PALS and NRP certifications

LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:

* ACCS and/or NPS specialty credentials awarded by the NBRC

Job Summary:

The Cardiopulmonary Rehab Team Leader coordinates and supervises all aspects of Respiratory Therapy in accordance with current applicable federal, state and local standards, regulations, and guidelines to ensure the highest degree of quality care is rendered at all times. Along with department leaders, he/she is responsible for staffing and scheduling team members to provide adequate coverage for provision of care for all patients with pulmonary needs. Develops strong relationships with physicians and other referral sources and ensures compliance with the established pulmonary programs. Maintains open and on-going communications with their leader to ensure patient, staff, and facility needs are met. Maintain ongoing clinical competence requiring regular clinical practice and taking a patient assignment as situations warrant, including assisting Physicians with Bronchoscopies, performing patient transports, and monitoring staff documentation. Appropriate activities include attendance in all department meetings, staff scheduling, and provision of direct patient care. Staff development and improvement of clinical skills for clinical team is also a priority of this position. The expectation for the Team Lead is to be an Ambassador to patients and families for better patient outcomes and satisfaction; monitoring of documentation and overseeing revenue cycle and charges, process improvement department program and department safety officer. They will also maintain competency in utilizing and troubleshooting ABG machines. Assist with new employee and yearly education competencies.
