Job Description

Reporting to the Operations Controls National Manager of Linde Gases U.S., the South Region Process Control Manager will be responsible for Linde’s South region ASU (Air Separation Unit) and CO2 process control operations working out of offices located in Deer Park, TX.  In this role, you will lead a team of process control engineers supporting 15 facilities, ensuring safe and reliable control system operation, in addition to executing moderately complex control system engineering projects. The South region process controls team performs operations support and small-scale project engineering work from design to implementation in accordance with Linde policies and procedures.

The selected candidate will work closely with other groups, and many times will co-lead programs through development.  Close interaction with Corporate IT, Linde Engineering, Logistics, Quality Assurance, Cost Reduction Engineering, and other corporate and regional businesses is expected.  The successful candidate should develop a team capable of making technical decisions based on full awareness of viability, cost and other benefits. Demonstrating technical independence through experience as well as developing and implementing innovative solutions will be key.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Implement and maintain control system standards, policies, procedures and best practices in support of business needs.
Manage programs within assigned budget and continuously strengthen group through staffing, assignments, training, and succession planning. 
Manage a balanced portfolio of process control projects and encourage collaboration across functional areas.
Provide support to regional operations with respect to control systems, security, and standards.
Facilitate team meetings and decisions; provides technical direction to team members.
Interface with internal and external customers/suppliers.
Keep current with state-of-the-art tools, design practices and concepts.

Qualifications

Basic:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent work experience.
10 or more years’ of relevant work experience.
Extensive experience and knowledge in the field of Advanced Control System engineering and working knowledge of other fields, i.e. process, electrical.
Understanding of P&I diagrams, schematic wiring diagrams, ISA symbology for hardware and software, I/O distribution, PLC / PAC configuration.
Able to provide off-hours support as necessary to solve problems during non-working hours.
Ability to travel up to 10%.
Practical Networking experience including LAN/WAN/Router configuration background.
Experience leading a team towards a common goal.

Preferred:

15 or more years’ of relevant work experience.
Rockwell PLC/PAC programming.
GE iFix HMI configuration and process engineering experience.
Siemens PLC/DCS programming.
Experience with network architectures and hardware.
Existing relationships with other Linde technical groups.
