Position Overview
The primary objective of this position is to provide financial leadership and US Commercial business support for the Imbruvica brand, a product responsible for sales of ~$6Bn and corresponding margin of ~$3Bn and part of a joint venture collaboration with Janssen Pharmaceuticals (JBI). Specifically, this position is responsible for all consolidated financial planning and reporting activities related to AbbVie Monthly Close / LBEs and annual Plan / LRP processes, as well as required collaboration reporting and forecasting. In addition, this position provides decision-making support and recommendations to Senior Management taking into consideration market dynamics, market share, market access, pricing and brand resourcing.
Core Responsibilities
1. Financial Reporting and Internal Control:
* Lead the monthly, quarterly and annual close / reporting processes ensuring accurate and timely reporting of monthly financial results in accordance with GAAP and reporting requirements from Division, Global and Corporate requirements.
* Develop effective reporting, monitor performance and support development of contingency plans as necessary to deliver results with clear and concise commentary.
* Oversee that all aspects of financial data that is derived from Imbruvica's third party logistic provider (RxC), including ensuring completeness and accuracy of chargeback data (approving chargebacks for release). Partner directly with RxC to resolve discrepancies. Additionally, provide assurance on rebate calculations provided by Deloitte for payment.
* Provide oversight to the Sr. Manager - Revenue for the quarterly rebates/chargebacks under/over accrual analysis review with Sr. Management. Further, maintain monthly/quarterly GTN close accrual based on most updated sales factors and payer chargeback and rebates charges.
* Regularly develop, conduct, synthesize, and present performance analytics and commercial decision support for inline products, based largely on proprietary SP (Specialty Pharmacy) data set (extrapolating SD - Specialty Distributor assumptions); ensuring quality of output and recommendations, as well as timeliness and business relevance.
* Assess and serve as approver for assessing whether new or amended customer contracts are based on US-GAAP and consistent with our revenue recognition policy.
* Oversee the preparation of all monthly collaboration transaction calculations, as part of the profit and cost sharing.
* Quarterly, prepare and route for approval invoice payment to JBI for upwards of $500MM USD as well as royalty payments based on worldwide Imbruvica sales.
* Participate on the JCC for the JBI collaboration, ensuring appropriate collaboration-required reporting is completed.
2. Financial Planning and Analysis:
* Proactively lead the brand planning processes [Plan, UPD, LBE and LRP] ensuring accurate and timely integration of sales forecast, pricing and investment resourcing, ensuring senior management input to meet overall Therapeutic Area / Division / Global / Corporate deadlines and deliverables.
* Accountable for generating, presenting, defending and maintaining Imbruvica (indication/line specific) forecasts with a high degree of precision and insight.
* Assess, revise, and maintain (consistent stress test all inputs / business rules) the organization's forecasting model, ensuring the appropriate level of specificity to allow for an in-depth understanding of market/customer trends for planning and variance analysis.
* Ensure financial planning deliverables are accurate, clear and concise for Executive level review and approval.
* Coordinate with JBI's finance team to gain clear understanding of their OUS Revenue forecast and shared SG&A spending to ensure appropriate inclusion in the AbbVie planning cycles.
3. Strategic Business Partnership:
* Business partner with Marketing to develop and build strong relationships with the brand teams, ensuring full involvement in their financials to drive growth and profitability.
* In partnership with BAI, provide context for decisions, both disease area and portfolio context, to help commercial teams (e.g. marketing, market access, sales) understand areas of opportunity/risk.
* Lead cross functional team (BAI, Market Access, Marketing) in developing an aligned perspective / cadence of interactions.
4. People Leadership and Development:
* Effectively lead and develop team of 13 professionals with 4 direct reports.
* Serve as a member of the Bay Area Leadership Team, collaborating with R&D Finance to drive a positive, productive, inclusive culture at this site and keeping Finance leadership apprised of site specific challenges.

Qualifications
Required:
* Located in the Bay Area, California
* 12-15 years progressive accounting or finance experience
* Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Experience in leading and motivating a team in a dynamic business environment to successfully achieve results / deliverables
* Ability to solve business problems through the proactive identification of issues and subsequent collection, analysis, and interpretation of related data
* Experience supporting senior operating management
Preferred:
* MBA in Accounting or Finance and / or CPA
* US Commercial experience and knowledge of the financial planning process
* Solid understanding of automated accounting/finance systems such as TM1, desktop productivity and mainframe accounting applications
