Job Description

The Global Retail Markets (GRM) US Technology Architecture team is activity searching for a Senior Architect. Liberty Mutual is constantly innovating and creating industry-leading solutions that provide peace of mind for our customers, agents, and partners. As an experienced senior architect, you'll play a critical role in helping us reshape our core insurance platform via a modern cloud-based architecture, all while working in a highly collaborative agile engineering environment.

You'll be responsible for the architecture of large-scale enterprise grade solutions with an initial focus on our best-in-class auto rating programs, telematics initiatives and our one product enablement imperative. You will establish technology standards and roadmaps while still having the opportunity to get into the code via the development of exemplar patterns that will be leveraged to accelerate the engineering team's delivery. We are looking for a change agent that will play a critical role moving our technology and business forward, solving the most complex problems, and providing leadership of cross functional teams that will unlock positive business outcomes in this space.

About the role:

* Partner with business leadership to identify problems, and opportunities for technology innovation.
* Help establish a clear, consistent technology vision through collaboration, influence, and enablement.
* Research, recommend, design and develop systems and application architecture.
* Stay informed on initiatives across the industry and the enterprise to help product owners and IT leadership effectively prioritize.
* Tailor communication and convey complex ideas in a concise manner to a diverse set of audiences and venues.
* Craft guidance that helps delivery teams identify quality risk factors around security and compliance.
* Identify and assess the organizational impact of enterprise architecture and standards, including change in skills, processes and structures.
* Accelerate delivery by forming a network of positive relationships with vendors, and other influencers within the enterprise and beyond.
* Mentor associate engineers and senior leadership alike. Inspire and lead senior technical individual contributors.
* Provide architectural leadership related to domain driven design and event streaming models, utilizing technologies such as Kafka, MongoDB and Serverless
* Build comprehensive DevOps into the delivery architecture, including automated testing, code stream management and CI/CD
* Assess multiple separate systems to understand what shared capabilities may be leveraged across the enterprise
Qualifications:
* Bachelor`s or Masters degree in technical discipline; Master`s preferred.
* 10+ years of architecture experience in applications development in a complex, multi-platform distributed environment.
* Experience building highly scalable applications using service-oriented, microservice, and/or RESTful API based architectures at an enterprise scale.
* Experience working with modern frontend JavaScript frameworks like React and Angular for consumer-facing web and mobile applications.
* Experience with telematics devices, including Mobile SDK, OBD2 and Connected Car (OEM) data streams
* Experience with large data sets, event derivation and telematics-based scoring
* Experience deploying applications in cloud-based platforms such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, and can elaborate on the -aaS hierarchy.
* Experience with containerized applications using Docker, Kubernetes or other similar tooling
* Experience in messaging platforms, protocols, and techniques such as Kafka, and event sourcing.
* Expertise in a wide variety of database technologies, from RDBMS like Oracle or DB2 to NoSQL systems such as MongoDB, Cassandra, or Elasticsearch, and can explain their varied use cases.
* Expertise in DevOps, pipelines, secrets and how to enable squads to utilize them
* Deep knowledge of how to secure complex systems and infrastructure against different attack vectors. You have led threat modeling exercises and helped craft remediation plans.
* Insurance industry experience is a plus.
* Usage based insurance experience is a plus.
