Description:
The Aircraft Mechanic I maintains, repairs, troubleshoots, modifies and installs various types of electrical and mechanical systems, wiring, equipment and related devices such as electronic transmitting and receiving equipment (e.g., radar, communication systems, and navigational systems). The successful incumbent applies technical knowledge of electronics principles in determining equipment malfunctions, and applies skill in restoring equipment operation, evaluates performance and reliability of circuitry and performs installation and maintenance using hand tools and common test equipment (e.g., digital multi-meters and oscilloscopes, fuel test and flight control test equipment). Repair or replacement of aircraft system components such as flight controls, power plant (engine/APU), hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and other system components. The incumbent of this position applies technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems in determining equipment malfunctions and applies expertise in restoring equipment condition and or operation, and relies on comprehensive technical expertise to solve moderate to complex problems by interpreting technical documentation such as blueprints or manufacturer's maintenance manuals.

Basic Qualifications:
Applicant must have Aircraft Maintenance Experience
Applicant must have a minimum 3 years intermediate level mechanical repair or modification experience.
Applicant must have a comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component troubleshooting, repair procedures and replacement of parts
Applicant must be proficient in reading and interpreting schematics, engineering drawings and technical manuals / technical orders.
Applicant must have thorough knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, multi-meters and crimping tools.
Applicant must have a high school diploma, or equivalent.
Applicant must have a working knowledge of technical publications and will be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
Applicant must be able to prioritize workload to maintain schedules on assigned projects.
Applicant must be able to travel as required
Applicant must be able to work overtime as needed to facilitate program schedule/budget milestones
Applicant must be able to work extended/multiple shifts as required to facilitate program schedule/budget milestones
Desired Skills:
H-60 experience preferred
Documented Military/DOD Service School or Civilian/FAA equivalent training desired.
Applicant must familiar with documenting work in logbook, performing PMD and 40 Hour inspections.
Must be able to perform fuel systems checks to include refuel and defuel operations and checking valve logic, fuel operations testing and MOC.
Troubleshooting of fuel system to include but not limited to electrical, fuel flow rates, and mechanical failures.
Must be knowledgeable of APU operations and troubleshooting, aircraft generator troubleshooting to include electrical and mechanical failures.
Service hydraulic systems, engine, transmission and gear boxes.
Perform flight control rigging, MOCs and troubleshooting to include but not limited to electrical, hydraulic and mechanical failures.
Must be able to assist Quality in performing aircraft weight and balance and preparing aircraft for flight.
Must be able to assist in performing structural and mechanical modifications and repairs.
