GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:
An interdisciplinary research program focusing on autism, autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and other developmental disorders seeks a research coordinator to manage subject and family related interactions. The research program involves brain imaging (MRI, MEG, EEG) neurocognitive phenotyping.
This position offers an excellent opportunity for candidates with a psychology, neuroscience, Applied Behavior Analysis, ASD aide, or teaching background looking to pursue a career in clinical psychology, ASD research, or similar fields, to obtain real world research experience in ASD research, that can serve as a launch pad for many career paths.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(1) General coordination of ongoing research, both administrative and subject centered
(2) Coordinate and schedule visits for families and research participants
(3) Assist with recruitment of participants, including enhancement and planning of recruitment strategies
(4) Performs neurocognitive assessments and parent interviews, with children both off and on the autism spectrum, and their parents
(5) Provides behavioral support to participants during testing, MRI, and MEG visits
(6) Assists with MRI acquisition
(7) Maintains database and lab calendars
(8) Maintains website and recruiting materials
(9) Other ancillary duties related to the ongoing research in the lab
(10) May assist with data collection and analysis

Flexibility in work hours scheduling, since this position does require work activity during some evenings and weekends

Patience and the ability to quickly adapt to emerging behavioral situations is fundamental
Ability to be playful and to engage children flexibly at developmentally appropriate levels
Ability to modulate one's own emotional expression and communication style to engage children and adults with ASD, who often respond best to high affect carefully articulated communication.
Excellent interpersonal skills
Ability to work independently and as a team member
Ability to follow directions from supervisors and to give clear directions to subjects-families
Computer literacy including Word, Excel, required (additional training for Excel is available). Experience with database (e.g. RedCap) is useful but is not necessary.
EDUCATION:
Minimum of a bachelor's degree in psychology, Neuroscience, or related fields required
Preferred:
Training and experience in Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) or a comparable method of behavior management tailored to optimizing success in working with ASD children, or general experience working with individuals with ASD.
Experience with the ADOS
Research coordination experience via internship or otherwise
Experience with administering psychological assessments
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY (if applicable):
None for FTEs
Supervising of undergraduate interns is possible.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Primary job location is at CNY149 in the Charlestown Navy Yard MGH
Desk in shared office or cubicle space
Some weekend and evening work will be necessary, to accommodate schedules of working families with school-aged kids; hours are flexible
Offsite work for special outreach events (such as Walks to raise Awareness and money for ASD), where presence would be important.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY:
Expense tracking for subject reimbursements and expenses related lab supplies, but no independent fiscal responsibility.
