The Business: This business unit provides technologies that serve as the nervous system of the vehicle, including the complete design, manufacture and assembly of the vehicles connection systems.
This business units products include a vast array of connection systems technologies for the vehicle, including: housings, terminals, mepa/pin-headers, high voltage chargers and interconnects, srs, high speed data solutions, on-glass connections, electrical centers, media modules and wireless charging products.
Our technology provides the critical signal distribution and computing power backbone that supports increased vehicle content and electrification, reduced emissions and higher fuel economy.
Summary (About this Position):
Aptivs North America Connection Systems (NA CS) team is looking for an experienced, highly motivated Application Engineering Supervisor to support Aptiv's customer and internal functions exceed customers expectation.
The successful candidate will be the face of Aptiv engineering within the assigned customer, while pursuing new business opportunities to increase our component penetration while providing Voice of the Customer feedback to our internal engineering teams.
Responsibilities:
* Lead a team of 4 application engineers focused on supporting the customer in new business pursuits, current applications of Aptiv products and find growth opportunities for the business.
* Maintain and grow customer relationships within the multiple engineering teams within the assigned customer.
* Identify and evaluate new component business opportunities through customer interaction and communication.
* Capture and understand customer requirements for new product applications (technical,timing, validation, etc.) and communicate back to internal organization.
* Capture and summarize Voice of the Customer.
* Provide guidance to application engineers and customers define vehicle application.
* Lead application engineers through Internal quote process (F3X, Pre-PXRB, PXRB).
* Support internal and customer reviews (design reviews, customer tech reviews, customer component evaluation, vehicle packaging review, etc.).
* Support application engineers and customer pre-launch/launch support.
* Provide customer formal and open issue tracking.
* Support customer and internal initiated change management (technical details, coordination, timing, etc.).
* Ability and willingness to travel as needed (less than 10%).
* Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements.
Must Haves (i.e. Basic Qualifications):
* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
* 5+ years of experience of wiring design or manufacturing with automotive connection systems including: housings, terminals and high speed cable assemblies, wiring design or manufacturing.
* 3+ years of experience with role involving customer interfacing.
* 3+ years of experience within the automotive industry.
* Experience leading engineering teams.
Nice to Haves (i.e. Preferred Qualifications):
* Master's degree in Engineering or MBA.
* Ability to interface with multiple customers and organizations simultaneously.
* Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Teams, Visio, etc.).
* Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.
* Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team.
