Department Overview

Power Generation maintains and operates PG&E's hydroelectric, fossil, and solar generation facilities providing approximately 5,300 megawatts of generating capacity for our customers. We are an organization of nearly 700 men and women dedicated to delivering safe, reliable, and cost-effective generation to California in an environmentally responsible manner.

Position Summary

Provides the vision and strategic direction for all Hydro Operations and Maintenance, including ensuring safe, reliable and cost-efficient operation. PG&E's hydro system is comprised of over 60 power houses with watersheds located throughout the northern and central Sierra mountains. They provide ovr 3.7 GW of low-cost generation.

This position requires the abiliy to travel up to 25%, to include driving in rural, mountainous terrain in a variety of weather conditions.

Job Responsibilities

* Building Partnerships: Develops and maintains constructive relationships with internal and external stakeholders, primarily at the Director level. Internal stakeholders include Directors of the other business functions within Power Generation as well as representatives of other departments within PG&E. External stakeholders include consultants; federal, state and local government agencies; special districts; national, state and local non-governmental organizations; Indian tribes; commercial interests and members of the public.
* Systems Thinking: Uses systems thinking to understand and lead operation of a hydroelectric system that is called upon to respond to highly fluctuating energy demands and ancillary services with flexible hydroelectric resources that are typically constrained by FERC license requirements, environmental considerations and water availability.
* Leadership: Provides leadership and management to the O&M leadership team to achieve consistently high levels of performance. Builds talent through development plans, mentoring, coaching, inclusiveness, continual recruitment, and staffing. Communicates department goals and expectations to develop leadership.
* Program Improvement: Provide oversight of key performance indicators to ensure business plan objectives are met. Administer and oversee all programs and processes supporting O&M, including budget and cost monitoring, recruitment and staffing, work control, outage planning, and performance improvement/corrective actions.
* Provides direct supervision, staffing, training, coaching, and mentoring to the Power Generation Managers. Assigns Operations and Maintenance work, project initiatives, and special assignments.
* Safety: Ensure department proactively addresses safety resulting in zero recordable injuries and preventable motor vehicle incidents.
* Strategy Development: Provide strategic leadership and management to Hydro Operations and Maintenance, including management of budget, and oversee the performance and development of approximately 400 professional and hourly staff personnel. Develops and challenges a strong program leadership team, keeping abreast of and actively communicating company business goals, priorities, and initiatives; staying abreast of industry trends and developments, integrating them into the program and department goals; and representing PG&E in industry, legislative and regulatory forums. Develop and implement strategies to lead Power Generation's Hydro Operations and Maintenance organization to industry-leading performance.

Qualifications

Minimum:

* Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, a technical discipline or equivalent years of related experience

* 10 years of generation experience

* 7 years of leadership experience
