Department Overview

Electric Asset Management (EAM) Distribution Planning (DP) ensures safe, reliable and efficient operation of the electric distribution system by providing timely and innovative engineering and technical support associated with the planning, design, construction and maintenance functions. EAM DP is part of the EAM System Planning and Reliability group and has overall responsibility for the utilization of area and equipment capacity, voltage and power factor support and the reliability of the primary electric distribution systems.

Position Summary

The Distribution Planning DG/OCB Settings group is responsible for all Distributed Generation Impact Studies connecting to PG&E Distribution Grid as well as setting Microprocessor base relays. The group is responsible to ensure that Rooftop PV, Battery Storage, Wind, Synchronous Generators Impact Studies are done on-time per Rule 21 and WDT Tariff and with high quality. The position includes performing Load Flow, Coordination Fault Study, review detailed drawings, relay settings, test reports, Description of Operation etc. Key expectations are strong grasp of Electrical Engineering Principles, schedule management, communication, customer focus, and customer satisfaction. DG Engineering team is also responsible to review and approve behind the meter Microgrid and support other departments as needed.

The Distribution Planning DG/OCB Settings is looking for talented summer intern to help support the evaluation and approval of SNEM projects (<30KW PV) and SNEM Pair storage projects at the beginning. The technical assignments will increase depending on the skill and experience level of the candidate.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

* Earning a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering Field (students must be continuing education towards degree during and/or after the internship)
* Must have a valid driver's license or obtain one at least 30 days prior to start date.

Desired:

* EIT or PE certification
* 3.0 GPA or greater in both cumulative GPA and major GPA
* Engineering experience in utilities, municipalities, construction, or engineering consultation
* Ability to work in a team environment and support fellow team members
* Strong problem solving and analytical skills
* Strong communication skills, both oral and written
* Takes initiative and can work independently with minimal direction
